That is sooooo helpful! I went out and candled her eggs out of the 11 only 4 are possibility viable. So I put them in the incubator a hour ago. I marked the air sack, I guess if there isn't any change within 5 days with the air sacks I'll have to assume that their not viable either.
I would like to take out the rest of the eggs and try to incubate them, but my husband wants to leave them alone. He thinks she knows what she's doing. As to when they should be hatching I haven't a clue as to when she laid each egg or when she started brooding I don't know. She is in what...
Oh one more thing when I checked its temp before it died it was severely shaking. When I found it dead it was lying on its side with the legs completely stretched out and stiff as a board. I held it for a bit to see if it was just sleeping but no movement or breathing.
She's still sitting on the remaining eggs. I have a infrared temperature gun that I check the chicks temps with and a regular thermometer for the incubator. So should I take the eggs that are left and candle them?
I have a hen that has been brooding, and 5 days ago she hatched one egg and that chick looks healthy and very active! Then 3 days ago she hatched another chick, this chick is healthy and active as well. Then last night she had one chick pip and this morning it hatched. I went out to check out...
Great news the chick is doing awesome, he is chirping, scratching, eating, & drinking. He had a rocky start, the first few days after he hatched I wasn't sure if he would make it. When he was old enough to be put with the other chicks he sat directly under the heat lamp and slept. After 2...
The chick is doing great!! The first few days after it hatched were kind of rocky, but I'm glad to report that he is chirping, scratching, eating, and drinking. He is the smallest chick, and the other chicks have taken him into there little flock.
Today the bubbles stopped and the chick started chirping. So I'm thinking that the lungs must not have been ready when the little one pipped and at the wrong end. So I hope that he can continue to hatch without help. His inner membrane is still vascular.
Thanks for the info, but I don't think I'll help out just yet. I don't think he's ready for the help yet. I do have some good news or at least I think its good, he just started to chirp and the bubbles stopped. The inner membrane is still very vascular so I'm going to wait, and wait some...
I have a chick that pipped yesterday at 5:00pm central time, it was already 48hrs overdue and it pipped at the wrong end. Since the pip there hasn't been any noise the chick is only opening & closing its beak with what appears to be bubbles coming out of the beak. It also appears to have...
5 hours as of now. It appears to have labored breathing. The inner membrane that I can see is still vascular. Still no sound only breathing motion with the bubbles. Still in the egg without any progress.
My last chick piped today, I can see the beak open & close but no Nosie, there is bubbles coming out with most of the opening and closing of the beak. This has been going on for 3 hours. What is going on? What can I do? Is this normal? None of the other chicks did that. Please someone tell...
HELP!!! I don't know what's going on with the last chick, he piped and he's not making any sound, but you can see his beak opening and closing and bubbles coming out, its been going on for the last 2hours. What do I do? I'm at loss, that can't be normal?
Next time I'll make sure we (kids & myself) understand that once the incubator is closed its closed and they aren't allowed to add eggs, this is to stressful for me!
As of now 9, 10, & 11 hatched, 12 hasn't piped. 13 piped, but at the wrong end. I'm in knots, this waiting game is terrible, now I won't get any sleep until 13 hatches and 12 pips. I have the humidity up to 75% I hope that 13 can zip without any issues. Then again 12 hasn't made any progress...
