Tonight is the first night that we put our 6 month old runners into the chicken coop with our mixed flock of chickens. I went in to visit(I had been at work all day and had to have some ducklove) and when I went to put down my drake, Nod, he threw up a milky liquid. He has never done this before...
I don't have goats but my neighbor has one and my ducks are obssessed with him. They wander over when he is within sight and he will knock down some branches and they will all snack and then settle down for a nap. I used to try to keep them apart but I think it is pointless now...

I find that the ducks love my attention now. Nod, my drake, will follow me all around the yard and wait to be picked up. For my ducks food doesn't seem to be the motivator, the routine is the key. Right down to my yelling "Ducks!" each morning from my bedroom window after my DH lets them...
I have both so I am probably not the best to answer but I choose the breeds because they go broody and are good mothers in addition to being good egg producers and good natured.
I have a Lavender Orphan from HinkJC and I would say he is a 4. Really pretty tame, not cuddly but when you catch him he is docile. At night he goes into the coop first and he always lets me pat his back for a minute before he turns away. I have Jersey Giant and an Easter Egger roos as well and...
That is amazing story! And think of how good those chickens will taste and you can marvel in that at each meal. I think I need to take more rides on State land!
We were brought this chick a couple of weeks ago and are not sure what we are looking at. Signs lead to Willie or Willie mix based on what I have read but I really know nothing about them and thought you all could help. She has black skin, 5 toes and green/black legs. Her feathers are coming in...
