Hello guys!
Ok I believe these pictures might be ready for determining the gender of my 6 personal chicks. There are other around them but I got 12 from tractor supply (buff orp hens) and 9 silkies from a great farm called Dunham Farm in Texas. Pretty cool pure breeds and great quality...
hello again,
Earlier under my previous thread I had posted the hardship of dealing with my chick suffering from Wry Neck illness.
I refused to give up and gave it vitamins and electrolytes and starting to see some positive results. My chick still can’t stand on its own but from another BYC...
I think its a type of Wry Neck. Read this article from someone else going through the same thing and this is what they did to help it. think ima try and post results later. :)
We had the same issue, laid on its side for three days, we put its beak in water and it drank a little but would...
THANK YOU!! I am currently now going through this and was starting to lose hope! I have been taking care of it for 4 days now and can see he is healing from the dehydration but now cant stand but wants to play with the others.
Morning/afternoon,
I have a question and have been doing research. But I’m not sure why my chick isn’t able to balance himself. He has all the energy now and won’t sit still and I’m hand feeding him food and water. He peeps and still doesn’t open his left eye.
Is he never going to be able to...
Thank you ! I believe my little guy just might push through. He is pretty strong for being dehydrated that’s for sure jaja.
The eye doesn’t look infected I believe maybe your right about the peck. Moving them into a bigger brooder as we speak/type
He seems to be more active now, but can’t stand straight. Can move all limbs but now he refuses to open his left eye?
Honestly I had to see if it was hurt so I gentle opened it for him and it just stayed still..... my assumption is that a bigger silkie pecked him and he got bullied. He peeps...
aww man.. what a rookie mistake I have done. Thank you both for this helpful information. I have faith that he is still alive and wanting for me to help.
I have already informed my partner on what you have shared and is going to make me a new brooder to separate the chicks and hopefully...
Thank you for the honesty.
Yes the others are also silkies from the same parents. This bloodline has been multiplied for over 50 years so I didn't expect this effect.
I believe my brooder right now might be too small for the wire separation, but I actually do have a small stuffed animal that I...
oooo no.... With this update I believe one of the bigger ones might have done this to him. He is honestly the smallest silkie I have in their and noticed he was being "bullied" a lot more and pushed around like a toy by the others.
I know no guarantees but would his chances of dying be...
Thank you dearly for this information!!!
I just honestly refuse to believe I should just let him die just because "its life" from what I read.
the poop is honestly the same color as the others. a Dark brown with some white and yellow mixed in together that looks orange but not fully mixed in...
Hello,
I am sorry to hear about your silkie lost his crow. :hugs
I hope this doesn't alarm the other users but I am an extreme animal lover and own 2 pure grown female Dobermans that have either eaten or harmed my flock as well. They are getting better and haven't had an accident in months...
Hello peeps,
My baby chicks have been pretty active, healthy, eating, drinking...I check on them all the time. Just now I went into the room and saw one chick laying down looking dead.. I tap the cage like I always do when I see the chicks lay down sleeping but thought omg he died! I picked...
