Happy early Birthday Mortie!
I definitely have a Nelly Yelly. When Penny lays or any of the other girls lay, she sings up a storm. I also go and check to make sure nothing is wrong. She is also my most vocal hen....clucks a lot, which I love.
Now...that's a happy and satisfied chicken. I love watching my girls eat...especially when I give them kelp. They love tossing it in the air before they realize that it's easier to eat when they hold it down with one foot and peck it.
I live in Clinton, just about 45 miles from Goldsboro and also worked in Goldsboro for a while. My hometown was Kinston.....born and raised there before moving to Clinton.
Debby, your chickens sound very comical and love their names...used to watch Bewitched too. I bet that is a funny sight to have them looking in the window at you.
My hen with the prolapse got worse yesterday so I put her down. Hatchery birds are just turning 3 yrs and I have lost 3 out of 9. It will be interesting to see if the Ameraucanas from the breeder will be longer lived.
Sorry to hear you had to put her down.
Lindz, you must be beat...hope everyone starts feeling better soon. I don't have little ones anymore, and now I wonder how I did it all. Guess that's why we have children when we're young. Take care and try to get some rest.
