she wasn't born that way. Her leg was completely normal until that day I saw her. Can it become deformed if injured? No mom won't allow that. We have dogs that will swallow hay.
Here's an update for you all. She is still eating well. I did need to put a hobble on her because she couldn't keep her leg under her.
And now a week after I put it on, I was going bye her cage and saw her stand on her own for about 3 minutes on both legs. A few moments later, she stood again...
She ate till her crop was full, and was able to stand leaning against me for a few moments while she ate today. A small improvement, but an improvement none the less. Still keeping her inside, and is getting vitamins.
I think she is stressed but yes she ate quite a bit in the bathroom yesterday. I think it is injury related due to the fact that we're was freshly clotted blood on her when I found her, like she was having a despute with a flockmate and hurt herself or something.
This is her today, after a quick wash, and being given her first round of vitamins. I saw her almost stand to her full height after eating and after o took these pics. Hopefully the vitamins will help.
No, home diagnosis after research. Definitely not accurate, though we do know many people that own chickens in our town did have it in their flock with diagnosis from vet. And the bird we added before our flock got sick, came from one of those flocks. She was first to get sick. Given the highly...
Nope. No marks so far as I can tell. Last year they did get bird flu, I don't think mom can handle it if they got another major illness. Me neither.
We have not brought in any new birds since last year either. Just chicks we raised and hatched (though any that were put with the adults are not...
Turns out I ran out of my b vitamins. Will children's vitamins help?
Also just cleaned her foot again. She was able to stand for a long while with it flat when I helped her flatten it. And found a tiny little round scab on the bottom of her footpad.
Gave her hydro hen for now to help give her...
I know not to wrap dirty feet XD. She has no visible physical injuries. Check that already after cleaning her foot the first time. No cuts, abrasions, bruises, swelling. Still doesn't seem to feel any pinching unless I do it really hard.
How do I wrap it so that she can actually try and use the...
She now is no longer trying to uncurl them to stand on them. She instead tries to walk on them while their curled. How can I wrap them to keep them uncurled?
