Do they hatch on day 26? I've tried searching the threads and got varied answers. I have one that internally pipped on day 25 so I'm guessing they hatch on day 26?
Thank you!
Anyone want a few Welsh Harlequin ducklings that are supposed to be breeder quality (got them from Edelweiss Homestead who’s flock is a mix of Holderread, Milliman, and Jake and Jean Wilson and the show judge and reserve waterfowl at Columbus James Konecny)? I have a few extras that are going to...
There's a great guide on here for hatching shipped eggs if you decide to try doing this again (I can try to find it, but I forgot what it's called). Generally it's recommended to leave the eggs to settle for 24 hrs so they get to be room temperature/outside of the incubator.
Then you put them...
I got my hatching eggs from Edelweiss Homestead. They're a mix from Holderread, Milliman, Jake and Jean Wilson and the show judge and reserve waterfowl at Columbus; James Konecny. (I'm unfamiliar with the last judge but have heard of the rest).
I've heard from someone else that it's age related as well.
This is a shame! I feel like it makes the coloring so much more striking yet its been difficult to find a breeder with a light head.
That sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately I already bought hatching eggs before realizing there...
Thanks I think I’ll do it just to be extra safe!
We don’t really have rats or snakes around here but we might have some weasels! I’ll do it just to be safe, thanks!!
Does a chain link fence or welded wire still need hardware cloth to go over it for a duck run? I was planning on having an apron at the bottom.
I was thinking of buying several of these to make a run (but wasn't sure which one was stronger, I'm assuming the chain link one): Which one do you...
Jason Rhodes has a youtube channel (and his own chicken feed) and he sprouts in the winter. I'm curious to try this with my ducks (I've done fermenting in the past).
Hello, it's difficult to tell from the video but ducklings need a water bowl big enough to dump their whole head in and clean their nostrils/nares. Here's a popularly recommended drinking bowl.
Do the ducklings have a deep enough water dish where they can fully submerge their whole head? (It's hard to tell in the pic). They need to be able to clear their nares/nostrils out under the water. :)
Does that mean if the breeder I got my eggs from has adult hens with orange bills that they’re not breeder quality? (some of them have orange bills and feet even though they’re adults)
