2 today, from Juin and Juillet :)
It’s finally hatch day for the four chicks I ordered! I’m so excited! :wee
Cross your fingers for me that they arrive safe and healthy!
If they are Black Sex Links and Blue Rocks (also sex links), then you can be somewhat confident they are pullets, as they have no obvious headspots. Males of these crosses would have a headspot at this age, indicating that they will be barred once they feather in. Females will have no barring...

Another shared nest box moment, but I ended up pulling Juin out when Juillet stood up to show me triumphantly that she had stolen Juin’s egg to sit on. Juillet would not stop pecking her, not enough to draw blood, but enough to make her squeak in protest, and...
3 today :)
Juin and Juillet were both in the favored nest box together, like a good big and little sister. It’s nice to see them sharing, but I imagine little Juin was having to sit very still and squinty in order to not get pecked by giant Juillet, who really hates when others invade her...
3 today!

Wow! Hannah’s comb and wattles are so much bigger than Martha’s, no wonder she’s top chicken!
Which Dominiques are which in the last photo? I’m about to get another Dominique for my flock and have been wondering if I’ll be able to tell them apart by the tips of their combs. Looks like you...

Juillet tried to lay her egg late in the day, but I guess it just wasn’t time. I’m expecting another two-toned egg in the morning from her, but we’ll see.
