Thinking about buying my layer feed from my local Farm Bureau and stop buying from TSC to support local but I wanting some input to if this is a good layer mix.

Must be at night for the black light to work. The hornworm's green color is fluorescent and the color POPS! against the green color of the tomato stems & leaves. Little suckers love to hide under leaves so you kind of need to look at things at different angles.
For those with covered runs like me, how much and how often do you water it? As the location of the run is on top of a hill and doesn't get much water drainage under the pine shaving. I live in Zone 8a, run is 10'x10', 6" depth of pine shavings and whatever plants/veggies I throw in there, and...
Put some eggshells and veggie scraps into the upper raised garden bed and shoo' d my Australian Shepherd away from my Roma tomatoes (she like stealing them off the vine, eating a bite, and leaving the in the yard for the other two Aussies to repeat her process.
Come November I will stop growing veggies in one of our raised garden beds until April and I was wondering if I could top the bed directly with chicken manure safely; I will cover it with black plastic. If yes, should I wet the soil before I put the black plastic over the garden?
I do DLM...
Chickens have started laying much more frequent now that the days are longer and it's getting warmer (minus this weekend it being 22 and 32 lows) Averaging 4 to 7 a day the past week, so the girls are back in their groove.
They went from 9 to 10 before the molt, to 2 to 5 Nov/December when they molted to early February, and since March it's none to 1 daily.
My setup is pretty darn secure with 1/4 hardware like this site suggests, mice (small) are the only things I've seen and we're taking care of them.

When will the hens begin laying regularly? Is it still the down time due to day light for them to be laying? Or has my flock of 11 hens hit their wall?
White leghorns and ISA Brown hens, born May 16, 2000. Went through their first molt last year/this year. Egg production declined of...

Also put oyster shell in a dish for free choice by the hens and you're...
If I hadn't seen a pet duck with a diaper being walked around on a leash at Clemson football tailgating for the past few years, I wouldn't think some of ya'll had been sniffing the chicken/duck poop too much when I first saw this thread. It's the wildest thing to watch, but the duck was super...
We've pretty well come to the conclusion that the egg eater(s) were being opportunistic, as we stopped getting eggs early in the morning and were waiting till 3 to 4 pm to get the all at once (we've got 2 or 3 that like to lay late in the day). Since we started gathering the eggs at 7 to 8 am...
I'd wait till about week 3 or 4 before introducing them. Pretty much just have to take their little beaks and tap it on the nipple to get water out and they do the rest.
It's deliberate. Wife has found 2 that the top of the egg (short pointy part) was eaten. May go the way of 20% protein again and continue the oyster shell free choice like I've been doing.
I use poop boards (life savers) and clean them about every 4 days. My pullets were put into the coop and run at the end of June 2020, added 6 inches worth of pine shavings at the beginning, and for the first time added one bail of pine shavings to the coop on Monday (1/18/2021). We walk in our...
Don't know which one or ones is/are doing it. Plus I'll find a work around as I'm not harvesting one for being an egg eater at this moment.
Hadn't thought of it being a specific pullet or pullets that are being targeted. My 5 leghorns sleep in the coop with 1 ISA Brown and the other 5 sleep...
Alright, I'll bite. Switched to layer feed (16% protein) since all my pullets are laying, don't have a rooster, and the cost 2 months ago.
Does feeding an All Flock/Flock Feeder (20% protein) feed help eliminate and an "Egg Eater"? As that's not something I read about.
