My chickens were using the nipples for a year almost. Then abruptly they stopped. They would come out of the coop and run towards any area of water they could find and drink like crazy. So we started to put the water in the coop again and they would drink it like crazy. So now the water never...
In my coop. I put hay. Under the roost their is always a pile of waste. Do I mix it up or do I remove it using this method? I can dump a lot more bedding in the coop if that is what it takes.
In my run. I had sand. But now it is all hard. Should I use a tiller. Loosen everything up and dump...
what i ended up doing one night is that i would push the chickens out of the nest box. they would go towards the roost and the leghorn would scare them away. i would push them back and they would have to go back on the roost.
eventually the leghorn gave up.
i did the same thing 1 more day...
i use a corrugated roof for my chicken coop run.
this way the sunlight comes through and they are secure.
slope it as such so that when it snows the snow can slide off as it melts.
i have two perches one higher and one 2 feet in front of it that is lower.
2 chickens are on the top and won't let anything near the other perch.
half the time when it is time to go in at night the leg horn will sit by the door and won't let any of the other chickens even come in tot he coop.
I have a white leg horn that is really bossy.
I have 2 hens that are older and are laying eggs.
I have 6 pullets that sleep in the nest boxes since the white leg horn will only let one other chicken on the roost bars. So the rest are sleeping in the next boxes because they aren't able to...
Have been tired of working on the coop. So I have been slacking. But this weekend. I worked on it for one hour. This is what I did. Put on the trickle charger. The solar panel is on there clamped to the battery for the drawbridge.
how many chickens do you think that i can comfortably put in there?
i have to get my one old chicken back from a friend and i want to put in 2 silkies. but now a neighbor wants to give me her 5 chickens.
Can i have 16 chickens in there?
This is a picture of the chickens through the clear corrugated roof. I like this idea because it is easier than shingles. And doesn't allow any water to get in so no mud.
