It's been really dry, but the overnight temperature is already down to the high 40's.
I had given my ducks the benefit of the doubt when they stopped laying mid June.
Thanks!
I have confirmed two fawn white drakes, suspect number 28 (black?) is a drake and I suspect one of the 'lavender' is a drake too. The other two blacks have not voiced either so they're suspicious.
28 moves it's beak, I just have to concentrate, which can be hard with so many 'quackers'...
Just hangin' around!
I thought that I had taken a picture of 'Napoleon' today; turns out to be a girly duck!
So cute! Tiny little quacker shouting, "I'm a girl!"
Seems like more females than males, also seems that the black ones are destined to be males.
With the 'blues' both being females, it makes me wonder if the color is following the gender of the original parents of my two original blues. 🤔
Pretty sure that one is a male, but I am going to take a few more weeks before I can call it with confidence.
It's fairly typical of a fawn/white runner.
The one in the pool?
The two in the background have been quacking for nearly three weeks!
"Hey girlie-girls"
"Qua-qua-qua-qua......." without a comma!😂
Funny you should ask, because some of the males are starting to voice! At least one came over to say, "Good morning, where's the grub?" 😁
I'm not sure about half of them, but oddly, I did do this brood because I couldn't see paying $85 to get two drakes shipped from Metzner.
