I miss my chickens dearly, havent seen them in 5 months.
Since the last update I have sold the barred chickens(potch Koekoek), the jubilee coloured hens(Boschvelder) and the adult Indian game Roo and hen.
The building on the farm have been a rollercoaster ride of note, thing are only starting...
Nice write up, and great on you for not giving up.
In permaculture the eggs and meat from chickens is mostly a by product. The main product is the compost and soil health.
In one of his videos Geoff Lawton have a nice show of his chicken setup in the greening the desert location, instead of...
The move is around the corner, just a little more then 30 days remaining.
Last night I couldn't find the one hen when I went to go and close the coop. I wasn't worried about her and knew she went of to go and brood somewhere, she is my best forager of the lot. A Small hen, can fly well and very...
For now I will not be putting anymore eggs in the incubator. We will be going away for a month and upon our return we will immediately move to the farm. If a hen does go broody, I will have a few Aseel cross eggs be put under her.
Timelines are tough, we are not near ready at the farm, while...

I can get most of the stuff I look for...
Hi All
Im looking for a forum or some literature on how people lived and survived in the old days.
Stuff like what did they use for toilet paper, what did they feed all their animals?
Thanks
I'm still trying to get an American game, OEG or Sumatra, but I did get a nice young Asil stag. Have him in with the buff Sussex, RIR, Koekoek and Boschvelder. Will give it some time and then start hatching some eggs.
Currently I have a bunch of mixed eggs in the incubator. Some Koekoek rooster...
At first I thought of not bothering getting an incubator as I want broodiness in my flock and will just use the broody hens to be the moms.
However I need to get my flock going and in order to do that I need to churn out more chicks now then when my flock is established and I just want to...
