That was my mistake the first several times..... The humdity day 1-18 should never be above 40/45, and like I said I was only succussful when I would keep it between 20-40.... That worked for me but it is trial and error until you find what is right for you.
This is my fourth time incubating, and my first time I consider it successfull. The first three were very disheartening but I have found the dry hatch method to be the best for me :)
I'll load pictures in a bit, but so far 4 Buff Laced Brahmas, 3 Gold Laced, and 6 or 7 Silkies with more coming. If the first one hatched yesterday when should I take them out and brood them? I am worriedd about shrink wrapping the ones that are still in there, but it's getting to be a tight...
Congrats!!! I am still waiting, and keep going back to check. A lot of movement and no full pips, but I can just see where they are going to pip..... or is that my tired bleary eyes....?
Don't you wish you could explain that all to the little chicks! I'll add good wishes to your little one.... Maybe just taking a nap building strength.Good luck Tina! I know the fear!
Mine have no pips, but its day 20, and I have a couple rocking like they are at a concert :)
I would be cautious if there are any pippers in the bator at present. There was a very good article I read on helping them out... some where on BYC. It mentioned using a washcloth (wet and warm) to wrap around the shell to soften it. Is long as you are in a warm and not drafty room you...
After they pip it can be 12 hours before they really start wait at least 24-36 hours before you consider helping as opening it could put the others at risk
