@LozzyR and @MaryJanet here's the video I took. They've grown a fair bit since then, but its still rather funny!
(excuse the mess in the back ground, it had been very windy the day before)
They do look very similar!
Do you know what breeding yours is? Is he a pure frizzle, or a frizzle of a different breed?
( always find that a bit confusing, am I right in that 'frizzle' is a breed in itself, but you can also have frizzles of any breed?
Bela wasn't a frizzle any more either! I think he liked it the least, poor chap.
The others were mud bathing, I doubt they will ever look white again
It does. Already the rfs have responded to well over 50 fires in our (large) area. And the hotter it gets, the faster they will get out of control.
Feeling kind of impatient in the moment, as I'm still waiting for my training before I can start helping out.
Bush/grass fire. It is so dry and windy, all it needs is a spark from mowing grass or something to set it off.
Not right near us, but pretty close. I think they mostly have it contained now.
I know right!?
Mother hen looked quite worried for a moment there! I think the bug is a caterpillar of common brown butterflies, and they seem to be a highly sort after delicacy.
I didn't do anything special either, I just said would you like some? And after thinking about it for a minute he decided that he did! And ever since then he comes up for it.
I think Betty helped show him how to as well...I miss that hen so bad sometimes.
Thanks! I'm not quite sure, they definitely don't look like my normal chicks do.
The first one (also in one of the group photos) looks like normal, but then the others have a slightly 'raised' look to the feathers, like they are trying to curl around but aren't quite making it.
@LozzyR here's G-man and Bela having a snack :)
And the chicks with their foster mum.
Anyone else see what I'm seeing with most of the chicks feathers? I think I might have to re-do my guess as to the dad, but I've never had frizzle chicks before so I'm not quite sure. @Somewhere_In_The_Clouds...
Just wanted to share some photos/videos and a couple of updates :D
Firstly, I somehow think I'm not really wanted here? And everyone knows that fish pond water tastes the best! Grows extra good feathers, or so they have heard.
I have Mareks in my flock, although it doesn't see like a very strong strain of it.
If you wanted to risk it, I could try giving them a home, and at least that way they would have a longer life, and if the worst came to the worst I would humanly put them down.
I mean, there is a good chance they...
