I got hatching eggs from a lady in North Carolina. She had been working to preserve the breed. But she stopped selling towards the end of the Covid lockdown. Not sure what happened with her, I can only speculate it may have been due to health reasons.
I am actually testing all the variant colors, patterns, and personality coming from my rooster and hen. I sold some and butchered quite a bit from my flock.
So far from my pair, they are giving me 7 colors/patterns.
This girl grew a white patch over her neck where her previous injury by a fox attack had occurred. Looks unique. Thank gawd her feathers are growing in the right direction.
I'm a little worried that her neck feathers won't grow right. I patched the skin quickly and even wrapped her neck so the skin wouldn't move. But apparently it did move with her constant head bobbing. So now that she halfway to recovery I can see the skin bonding but it shifted and her neck...

I bought her eggs through ebay and hatched them in March 2020. I can't retrieve the breeders information since she has no listing at the moment.
I don't think she sells chicks, just hatching eggs.
My flock came from a breeder in south Carolina, she's dedicated to the improvements of the breed.
They are quiet most of the time and super friendly. There egg song is the only noise or if they see a predator they sound the alarm. I've had zero health issues with them.

So this group got killed by a cat, fox, or group of raccoons I don't know which. But I do have 1 pullet that was saved. She's doing well.
My 3rd hatch of 8 SFH eggs, 6 hatched and the chicks turned out with zero crest. I was happy to see this. Here some chick pictures.
