Breeding question - I just hatched 7 chicks from a single source. Some of her birds were acquired directly from GFF, some from another trusted source (who bought direct from GFF) - so I know they are pure. My plan is to start breeding - can I start with just this group? Or do I need to find...
My 7 new babies hatched April 18 and 19. 1 black and white, 5 various shades of redish brown and 1 light colored. The light colored one with the gold face is pale yellow with a lavender patch on her back. I'll try and get some good individual pictures soon.
YEA! Pictures Please! I need some cutness right now.
I just put 9 (out of 21) eggs into lockdown - I'm really hoping they all hatch.
I know SFH are notoriously hard to hatch but I was really hoping for better results. I meet the breeder 1/2 way on a 2 hour trip so the eggs didn't take the...
I'm down to 11 out of 21 in the bator - including the cracked eggs which is still going but the aircell is looking large. Going to lockdown Wednesday evening and .

On your chick with the eye problem - I had a similar situation with a bantam cochin last spring...
Please forgive my ignorance here but when did the Frizzle get to be a part of the SFH? I would think that a land-race breed wouldn't carry any frizzle since those would be picked off by predators first. Are they a mix? Or am I missing something?
Beautiful! I really enjoy all the wonderful pictures you post - both here and on FB.
I'm so sorry for your loss - he was a beautiful bird. I hope you get some roos just like him.
Congrats on the new eggs! I'm still waiting for mine to start laying. And I agree with Bulldogma (below) about the sprigs on your roo.
To cute! She must have a much better view from up there

For those of you who use the "dry" incubation method for SFD- what does that mean in the way of humidity? I can see it being very different depending on the climate and am wondering what percentage seems to be best (or better).
Also, will anyone have any hatching eggs for sale in the near...
