    The Quack Shack

When my little Call Duckling female had this problem I kept holding her and soaking her bottom in warm water. Finally one time after I was gently picking near her vent a large piece of poop came out and when I put her in the water a big poop exploded out of her. She was just fine after that...

It's what ever works for you. I caught one the very first night with my Marshmellows and hot dog and the next night got the other one. Haven't had any more problems, knock on wood. I hope that you get yours too. I also bought a brand new trap off of Amazon and I think that helped too.

Since I did not band my Mallards I have no idea how they reacted to being banded. They never seem to notice them though and have never acted any different after I got them back from the young man that used them for a College experiment. I am glad none of this horror story happened to them...

    The Quack Shack

I have never but two of mine that I let a college student borrow for a summer project for college banded my two Mallards from California. I was glad that he did as I can never confuse them with any of my other ducks that I have raised.

My older drake also is keeping a close eye on my new little Call Duck female that was born in March. That is why I am keeping her separate along with her mate that was born at the same time. My two young Rouen drakes were hanging out by their enclosure also but none of them can get to her. I...

I was not sure what pot little duckling passed but I am sorry that you lost it. Was it the one that was swimming while you were gone??? I hope that they stay safe until you get the better brooder setup. I always use 50 gallon totes that are 2 foot deep to keep mine in with the puppy pads...

Lucky it did not get water logged being so young and in the water alone. I am glad your TSC lets you only buy 2, we are down to 3 now but I have gotten away with 2 before since the manager knows me very well as that is my favorite place to shop, lol. I hope all works out well for your little...

    The Quack Shack

That is why I still have my two Call Ducks I got March 19th of this year separated from the rest of the flock with a look but not touch pen. It will be August before I can let them out with the others and by then my three biggest drakes should be rehomed. Drakes can be brutal on young hens...

I hope that it did not break the skin Frank. They can carry rabies and other diseases. They are terrible predators and I am sure it will try to return. I am glad that you were able to save her.

So sorry to hear this. He was such a cutie pie. I know you did your very best with him and sometimes things happen that we don't expect. I hope you feel better soon.

I guess I was used to my Mallards and Khaki Campbells because that was my dead giveaway at just 6 weeks when my Hens were all fair game to them. That is why these Rouen Ducks had me fooled.
