How do your ducks do in the garden with the plantings? I had ducks before but never inside the fence so I didn't know if they would do harm to the veggies or not. I would love to have some again.

sounds like your neighbor needs something else to spend their money on. . .a hobby perhaps, suggest chickens and tell him the better the coop the happier he will be. I would wonder what someone who could afford a $50,000 car would think 'better' would look like?
Not trying to be sarcastic here, but fowl are a whole other animal from horses, cows, goats and have differing number of stomachs, digestive process, etc., Pay attention to the things that are touted or not for chickens, ducks, etc for a reflection of the effects.

From a legal standpoint, causing livestock to act in a manner other than what is a natural, healthy manner for whatever kind of livestock it is is considered 'injurious or harming" as some livestock can die of the stress, heart attack, etc. That being said, since this can happen with wildlife...
PS I really don't care either way whether we have chicks in the future, either way is fine with us, so an inability on his part to keep up is fine. It is only if he would have some 'need' to feel he has to that would make him keel over , lol, no more comments or I will be banned from the thread...
We ordered female chicks, and as will happen even paying extra does not guarantee anything. "Ellen" as he was originally named has crowed his first time today! We don't have a problem keeping him, he is a beautiful RR. However, we have 21 hens (expecting it was going to be 22 without a rooster)...
