Is this a pecking order wound?

It's odd, the swelling is gone and now it's just a scab. So maybe she was stung by a wasp? Thank you for your help :) I think she will be ok!

Is this a pecking order wound?

I think these came out worse than the first. She is a wiggly little thing. But no other symptoms. Eating, drinking, running, playing. All kinds of things. I sat outside with them yesterday and nobody was bullying. I'm at a loss

Is this a pecking order wound?

Thank you for your reply! It feels more firm, but not necessarily hard. And no, I don't believe it does. The area is completely dry and the lump is not soft enough to feel like it is pus filled for example.

Is this a pecking order wound?

I have a 3.5 week old show girl chick that has recently shown a fairly large sized raised lump with a scab on the right side of the neck. I have a total of 5 chicks I hatched under a broody hen. No other chicks have any injuries. They are separated from other hens. The chick is eating and...

Chicken ran away... for a week??

Next to her nest is our watch dog Bella's kennel, so I wonder if being next to a dog helped deter predators? It's a wonder a raccoon didn't make her and her eggs dinner

Chicken ran away... for a week??

I thought she was flying out! She is a really good flyer and the tarp we have as a roof had a small opening, so I thought that was her route. We closed it first but she was still getting loose. Lord only knows how lol. So I let her out for giggles and she led me right to it... A few feet from...

Chicken ran away... for a week??

We sealed up every possible opening no matter how small and thankfully she is still home. I have a hankering to let her out and see where she goes because I am curious how we missed her for almost a whole week. But no, we only have three hens so they shouldn't be fertile unless she has had some...

Chicken ran away... for a week??

Lately, my Frannie girl has been a little Houdini and somehow escaping out of the chicken run. We could never catch her doing it and blocked off everywhere we could find she might be getting out, but we were unable to stop her. This Sunday, the 12th, we ran errands early afternoon. When we came...

Hen pecking.. how much is too much??

This is the best pic I could get of the coop along with my ol girl I lost to the eye infection :( I just spent the time I've been home trying to keep the peace as even with three acres to roam, Dorothy still hunts down Frannie to attack. I tried locking Dorothy in the crate, but she kept...

Hen pecking.. how much is too much??

I have a toy that we fill with treats and a few outside roosts that they don't use lol, but that's about it. We never had an issue with space so we haven't loaded up on hiding spots. Another reason is the coop is at the edge of the woods, so I am concerned to encourage snakes and other pests if...

Hen pecking.. how much is too much??

We think they are about 7 months. We bought them at the same time from a lady when they were about 2-3 months. The run is a 10x10 dog kennel my husband fastened to the coop door so I can open the coop door before school on the mornings to let them have more room and then I let them free range...

Hen pecking.. how much is too much??

I have three hens currently, Frannie, Dorothy, and Nubz. Dorothy (standard size) and Nubz (bantam) are mixed breeds while we believe Frannie to be a Buff Catalana. I am having an issue with persistent pecking. Dorothy and Frannie are currently the only two laying. Everything was fine until...

Three chickens.. what breeds are they?!

What do you look at to determine their breed? None of them have their combs quite yet, which I know is a big help. Any ideas what they could be mixed with?

Three chickens.. what breeds are they?!

Please bear with me, I have a very cheap phone lol but these are the best I could get.. the girls did not like the idea of pictures other than Frannie my red one The large pic embedded is of the bigger black pullet, my "Orpington". The smaller black one in the thumbnails has the feathered legs

Three chickens.. what breeds are they?!

I bought three chickies back in December from a local breeder and they were all supposedly three months. She claimed the large black one was an Orpington (I agree with), but then said the smaller black one was a Shumen and the orange one was a Penedesenca. I find these last two claims a little...

    DESPERATE...PLEASE HELP!

I just went and checked to see if she would finally come down, and her eye is open finally. It is still incredibly red and puffy, but before it was swollen shut. I was not able to get her down, even with some tuna. I don't think she has ate or drank today. I wonder why she doesn't want to move?

    DESPERATE...PLEASE HELP!

Happily, she is still here! I thought we were really improving on Monday, she was talking and walking and pecking and ate a good bit. But then today I can't even coax her out of the roost to put ointment on her eye. So hopefully this is just a bump in the road
