    What Size Run for Ducks?

Oh sorry, I think I need to plan on having them in 24/7. Right now I let my chickens free range, but only for a couple hours. Too many dogs around to be alone unsupervised.

    What Size Run for Ducks?

I'm getting four runner ducks this weekend, which came as a complete surprise to me. Someone where I get my feed from wanted to get rid of them and asked if I wanted them. I was going to wait till next spring, but the price was right and I couldn't pass them up. Anyways, I need to make them...

Is it good to have a mean rooster

I personally wouldn't keep him. You shouldn't have to get attacked when you go out by the chickens. My roos are just reaching maturity, but I've seen a lot of roos that do a good job of protecting the hens without being pains in the butt.

    Bantam Rooster - Regular Hens

Well my little SLW guy is determined - he's a big chicken in a bantam body. I was talking with one of my boy's teachers today and mentioned that maybe they could hatch some eggs for 5th grade science class. (This is just a shameless trick to get more chicks in the spring, but I could always...

    Bantam Rooster - Regular Hens

Will a bantam rooster have any problem breeding standard size hens? My roosters I have are a SLW bantam, a silke and a polish crested (he's the one who's going to get kicked to the curb though). My SLW has started to take an interest in the ladies, but he focuses most of his attention on the...

You might be a crazy chicken lady/gent if...Go on, post yours!

The UPS delivery guy asks how your day is going, and you tell him much better than yesterday and proceed to tell him the whole story about how one of your hens got caught in fly tape and you had to get it off with vegetable oil, and then give her a bath to get the oil off, and then blow dry her...

Attorneys in NE OK and NW AR--HELP please!!!!!

You could try checking the OK State Bar website (not sure if OK has one or not - I know WI does). I also think that in WI they have a referral service where they can help you find a lawyer in your area that deals with your specific case. Good luck!

    Which Chickens to Get?

I'm going tomorrow to buy some 14 - 16 month old hens (take that young chickens in the coop - I won't have to wait for eggs anymore!) and I'm wondering what breeds I should choose. I'm looking for something that's going to continue to hopefully lay for awhile, deal with confinement OK (have a...

Urgent - How do I get fly tape off my chicken?

Crisis averted - little sammy is drying in the tub now, all clean and flowery smelling from the dish soap. I'm just waiting for her to dry a little bit, then I'll put her back in with her buddies. Thanks everyone! Oh yeah, just a little bit of veggie oil took it off - guess I didn't need the...

Urgent - How do I get fly tape off my chicken?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Freaked me out at first though, now I'm laughing about it.... Looking back, when she was running she also had a plastic bag stuck to the tape, it was pretty comical!

Urgent - How do I get fly tape off my chicken?

Going to search for some WD 40 and rubbing alcohol and get the bathtub ready.... Leave it to my chickens to get caught in the fly tape that was hanging 5 feet off the floor! ETA: I don't have it in their coop - it was in the storage/rabbit area that I left open while feeding tonight.

Urgent - How do I get fly tape off my chicken?

I have a 20 week old salmon faverolle who got a roll of fly tape stuck to her and I'm wondering what's the best way to get it off? Maybe soap and water, or should I try to cut it out? Its still pretty sticky yet - I just put it up this afternoon. Thanks!

    Help choosing chickens

I love my faverolles - they're the little comedians in my coop - plus I think they're pretty easy to sex when they're young (the salmons at least). The SF are one of the few chickens that my 7 year old can catch easily.

    Benadryl for Dog with Allerigies??

I also have a dog with allergies - my Husky gets the sores really bad on his back feet. Besides benadryl we would also wrap his back feet when we were at work or if we couldn't supervise him. We just used an old sock, and then taped it above his elbow. The sock was good because it didn't keep...

Coop is almost done, already want more chickens...

Well, your coop sounds like its only big enough for 4 regulars and a bantam (18 sq feet). I would say add on to the coop and get more (that's what I did and I'm happy with my 25 chickens).

How to decide which rooster to keep?

I had a jerk-ish roo, and a nicer one - and I chose to get rid of the jerk-ish roo. The nicer one has become a little bit more of a pain in the butt than before, but its tolerable at least. I'd say get rid of the problem roo.
