Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Ironically, the one we questioned the longest about whether or not it was a rooster is the first chicken to start laying in our little flock! Lol

Thanks. The feather pattern had us thinking she was a rooster for a while, but the rest of her is definitely looking girly! Lol

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Sorry, started my own thread then saw this post. Thought maybe I could get more feedback here. Pullet or roo? He/she is about 13 weeks or 3.5 months old.

Thanks! We love our little Chilli! My husband wants to keep it even if it turns out to be a rooster but I don't think it would work well for us.

Thanks, I've been wondering if "he" maybe is a "she" afterall! This is the only one of the 6 that I have that's left me guessing.

So I have had one poster previously tell me that my chicken Chilli is definitely a cockerel, but others said that they didn't think anything stood out as definitely a rooster. If we do have a rooster, I don't really want to keep it. It hasn't started crowing & it is one of the most timid...

    The Silver Laced Wyandotte Thread

I have been questioning whether or not this one might be a roo. Its comb & wattle are darker than the other SLW that is the same age & its feather pattern is splotchier with darker patches. The comb & wattle don't seem to be much bigger than the other SLW tho (if at all). They are 8 weeks old...

How high can a large fowl chicken jump or fly in 3ft?

Thanks, PirateGirl & Folly's Place. I think I will use a ramp for now while the chicks are still young & I will set the roosts at whatever height is convenient for me (within reason) & I'm sure the chickens will adapt.

How high can a large fowl chicken jump or fly in 3ft?

Just to clarify please, Hokum Coco... You use both poop boards & deep litter method?

How high can a large fowl chicken jump or fly in 3ft?

Thanks, Egghead Jr. We aren't currently clipping or chickens wings & if we do decide to free range, it will be a modified chicken tractor version of free ranging so wrong clipping shouldn't be needed.

How high can a large fowl chicken jump or fly in 3ft?

Hokum Coco... Thanks. We currently have our chickens in a built in run so no plans to clip wings at present. (Although I love the idea of free ranging our birds, my husband & I both work & I worry about the dangers they'd be subjected to we're away working.) Our nesting boxes & roosts will be...

How high can a large fowl chicken jump or fly in 3ft?

CTKen, I am new to this chicken thing & thought that would be the best way to help manage the poop & the smells without it being a big daily chore. From what I've been reading now, tho, it sounds like if I put in poop boards, I should only have a minimal amount of poop on the coop floor. My...

How high can a large fowl chicken jump or fly in 3ft?

I am currently renovating an existing coop for my new little flock. They are 7 weeks old & include 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 2 Speckled Sussexes & 2 Easter Eggers (1 of which may need to be rehomed cause it's looking like it's a cockerel.) I would like to build some roosts with poop trays...

Really?! That would be wonderful! I've had a couple of people insist that because it's head is ginger coloured & chest is black, plus some darker red patches on shoulders means that is a cockerel. I'd be pretty happy of they turned out to be wrong. There's definitely no red colouring to its comb...
