Got the new coop/run framed out and one panelling section put up. Anyone have any good recommendations for a peel and stick vinyl that is cheap but good for a coop floor?
Whoops. Hubby mis-measured and instead of a 6x8 coop we ended up with an 8x8. Whatever am I to do? 🐣
I'm so happy that everything is turning out level. Level nesting box window and level base. This will make for happier birds, I think.
Day 1 of new coop/run rebuild!
There isn't anything wrong with the old coop and run, I've just realized over the years that it could have been done better and bigger, with more strategic planning. Hubs has been amazing on finding a design I am in love with and he's even running electric out to...
Yeah, they're a HUGE problem here in SW Michigan. I collect the ones I can in a mason jar and dump them in the run every day. One a couple of my girls will eat them and (thankfully) my boys do. Most of the hens think they're gross, tho. I agree!
Saddened today. My neighbors did have a rooster in their hatch. It was fun to hear him practicing his crow at my two boys.
Saturday, they let their birds out to free range and didn't return until 11 pm to lock them up. The rooster and one hen were gone. I'm thinking it was taken by a racoon. I...
Southwest corner of the state here. We had major drought this summer, but it's finally been rainy the last two weeks. Our leaves are for the most part still green.
I'm in a pretty light-polluted area, too. We get lots from Chicago. Look for dark sky parks around Michigan, I know there is one near Lansing and one near Howell.
Busy season is here, she will be more active now and again in March. You can sign up for alerts on https://michiganaurorachasers.com/
My boys have very big wattles, so if they dip their wattles in anything, they're bound to get frostbite, so I wanted something different than a dip. I do currently have the cups on a 5 gallon bucket and I love them for the summer.
Woke up to pouring rain this morning. So glad I watered the garden last night 😅
I'm switching the bird's water over from the cups (on a 5 gal bucket) to the metal nipple waterers. I foresee an afternoon of teaching my birds how to use it.
Anybody have good results here with using them in the...
Everything! I sprinkle it on eggs, meat, add to rice while cooking. I can even use it in place of paste, if I take about a tablespoon and add water to it.
