    I am still going to put up the wire, especially since this thing is breaking my chicken fencing. I have started putting up a chicken wire fencing top over the chickens since I do also have hawks around here. But anything to make my hens feel safe enough to lay again.

    Guns are an option. My son has several, but no one has seen the coon just his tracks, and dead chickens. We even set up a trail cam but it didn’t show up. I think it’s the same coon we caught in the trap about 4 yrs ago, that tore up my trap and got out.

    I lost my sources for free organic barley, I was cleaning up around the edges of their grain barn. So I switched to the dried beet shreds, my chickens love them but are they good for them? I am also feeding them chopped alfalfa and their regular chicken food.

    Interesting info about raccoons

    We just discussed putting up a wire fence charger today. I am thinking of putting it on a timer since no one has seen this coon, just it’s prints. It will run from dark until daylight when I let the chickens out of their coop. No sense shocking them.
