Is this bad or rare to have problems with them housed together. When I first started all this not long ago most of my research was most were saying to never have the two together at all for the dangers of the turkeys catching disease and dying, yet I see in here not a few but many of you have...
there is one route that I do know you may take. Write him/her a formal letter and mail to them certified with return receipt stating your concerns. Basically state that their birds are not monitored or controlled and continue to enter and trespass onto your property and causing excess damages to...
Not a very well thought out suggestion. First off on a morality point, There is so much time and money invested in the growth of our birds then to have a neighbor freeloading our birds. Not to mention in deceptive point that a neighbor as the owner is gone can go on the property and steal birds...
I was wondering as far as the gathering of turkey eggs for eating what is within the safe practice of timeframe that the eggs should be gathered before they are no longer safe to eat? how long if the hen has laid an egg and is sitting on it keeping the egg extremely warm, is no longer safe for...
it is a temp situation, I have 2 different breeds so I need to arrange 2 separate spots for the hens. and yes several are going to slaughter shortly at a later date.
I have quite a few turkeys. the toms separated from the hens. Anyhow, one of the turkeys what I assume has some dark spots on his head black small spots. I would worry and think blackhead disease possibly but no other is showing this and I have no chickens, which I assume that is how the turkey...
I have been spending recent days whether or not to allow my heritage bourbons to age/grow 6 or so months longer. they are a year old right now, and as you well know giving another 6 months can run into some money. Yet money is not the factor for me for the investment is not seeking return...
I was wondering if anyone knows what weight each one of these, bourbon reds and standard bronze, for males and females would typically overall be after being processed at 1 1'2 - 2 years old? so apparently they at that age would be the largest they will ever be.
I have been growing my br heritage turkeys for the last 11 months,i will be growing them for another 7-8 months. Is there something other than the feed that can be fed to them for enhanced flavors in the meat? and/or other than water also?
sorry to step in to another, sort of, topic with my own but can someone please refresh my memory as to what those things are called that you put on the back of hens to protect them from damage from toms? And any advice of a good site to buy them for a reasonable price?
not looking for fancy or...
could be Ornithosis, but doubtful. If I was you I would have safely swept her up in something and contact local government for a autopsy. they would preform it for free considering the circumstances. I'll be honest, any kind of likely disease that could cause that kind of fatality maybe...
don't get too anxious. by the time you finish feeding to slaughter there is very little to profit. That is main reason for the higher prices, unless you market several thousand, keep your day job.
wow, I did not know that. That is awful. Huge investment loss. One thing I cannot figure out. What in heck do they feed those commercial birds? I cannot see how they make a dime off of them in November when the pricing goes down so low per bird, for if they fed them normal poultry feed or grains...
So feeding them finish feed for these next 10 or so months wont affect the quality of the meat of anything? thank you so much for your help.
Oh, was that tom holiday dinner? or you still have him?
