    They can and they do. I do have a 4ft and 5 ft roost which they use to get up but they fly down.

    If your shed has exposed rafters they will prefer that to anything you build them for a roost. At least mine do.

I added 6 red sex links, which were 9 weeks old in a dog crate for a week, then a week where the sex links could go in and out of the crate but not the big chickens.     Does having a broody hatch chicks stress the rest of the flock? I've introduced new mostly grown chickens to my flock the last couple weeks and egg production as all but stopped. Hoping it starts again soon.

    You have only the three boys? I don't know how well that will go. There is a poultry swap saturday at Green Hill farm in Sharpsburg. They typically have older chickens so you would know what you're getting.
