Turkeys with strange bumps on face and neck

I would be concerned about Fowl Pox. You definitely need to separate it from the other birds.

Planning a new flock in Florida

2 years ago I was gifted 25 mutt chickens of which 20 turned out to be roosters so I ended up with 5 hens in the end. About 3 months ago one of them became broody and ever since we've gotten 1 to 2 eggs per day. We made the decision to re-home them with a wonderful family who have roosters...

    Rehoming our flock 😩

My 5 girls are going to their new home today. It's sad but they have stopped producing for me and I'll be starting a new flock in the spring.

What to do with hens for hurricane?

Thanks for the shower with a door recommendation. That's perfect for my 5 hens, temporarily. I've got 3 huge dogs and 2 of them have severe anxiety so their crates won't be available. You just solved my problem.

Got our coop and pen done...

Great job! Only advice, other than what's already been suggested is to place a roosting bar higher up. Mine all like to huddle together on the highest of 3 bars.

    I need advice

The only experience I've had with Guineas was with my neighbors. They lacked the ability to learn and would constantly fly over the fence into my property. They'd run the fence line squawking for hours unable to figure out how to get back over the fence, until sundown, then they'd miraculously...

    I'm a complete newbie

@Chickenchic49 Welcome to BYC, and Hurricane Central, LOL. I'd say the first priority is to make sure that you have a predator proof coop and run, because everything loves chicken, not just us. There are plenty of good ideas on this site, but the key is to have any open areas covered in 1/4"...

DO YOU WASH & REFRIGERATE YOUR EGGS?-

I was told that by washing the egg, you remove the coating that prevents bacteria from entering the porous shell. So, in the beginning I didn't wash, though I did refrigerate. However, I now have an immune suppressed family member and have chosen to err on the side of safety, and I do now...

    Bad bad snake

I live in the swamps of Central Florida and my property is covered up in black snakes. I'm thankful for them because they will eat poisonous snakes, and mice, etc. I've never had one get into my coop. We've secured all openings with 1/4 hardware cloth which will keep out anything big enough...

Turkey poult has spraddle leg and possibly a neurological disorder. Please help

@Mboltz12 , I'm so very sorry. I think sometimes spraddle leg is just a symptom of other weaknesses. I know that accepting the circle of life is the healthy thing to do, but like you my heart is very sensitive to any loss of life. It's the "gift" of empathy which will serve you and your son...

    Are these peck marks?

There are 2 types of fowl pox. Internal, and external. The bird can have one, or in some cases both. There is no cure for either, but external pox can be treated with antibiotics added to the water to prevent secondary infections (which is what the biggest risk is). Internal Pox are lesions...

    Are these peck marks?

They can get fungus, but you said they started out light colored, which is more typical of pox.
