I have posted a couple different threads about my Golden Laced Wyandotte. She's 2 1/2. Her symptoms looked a lot like internal laying, ascites or EYP. Her symptoms don't look like that much at this point. She has recovered to a point where she is alert, highly interested in food and water again...
I brought her some water and after about 5 seconds she finally opened her eyes and drank quite a bit. I was happy to see that. I put a little food near her but she wasn't too interested. I want to give her soft foods that are easy to eat
I'm just trying to decide if I should continue meds and force her food and water. Or if I should just let her be comfy.
And also, she hasn't laid an egg since last fall I believe. All my girls stopped for a few months. Just started up again. She may have laid one right before she got sick...
10 mg a day I believe. Her crop seemed totally fine to me. Seemed to be emptying properly. The only thing I noticed was the super swollen belly. And very stinky poo. Worse than usual chicken poo. Today she just went downhill. I really don't think she'll make it through the night.
Yeah, shes not doing well. She's been laying with her eyes closed all day. She only opens them if I physically lift her up, or sometimes just walk in the door. I just dont know if I should force feed her or force water or force medicine, or just leave her alone. She's been staying strong and...
Thank you guys for your reply. Personally, I can't put my girls down. No matter what. I do know, or am 99% sure she will be passing soon. She was laying with one leg behind her, one leg under her and has had hee eyes closed all day. I readjusted her to put both her feet under her and yellow...
Hey all!
I posted about my golden Laced a couple of days ago. I have some updates of how she's acting and some more questions.
So she's been eating. Not a ton, but she's still interested in food. Still drinking. I've been giving her amoxicillin for 6 days now, but it doesn't seem to be...
I'm leaning toward ascites. I was reading the symptoms here: http://www.fresheggsdaily.com/2017/06/water-belly-or-ascites-in-backyard.html?m=1
And she has some, but not all of the symptoms. The one that made me think it's this, is last night when I was feeding her, she made kind of a gurgling...
She ate quite a bit today. I kept her inside today, since she got worse when she was outside yesterday. She doesn't move around a lot, but still very interested in food. Her abdomen definable does feel swollen. What does that indicate?
Update:
I honestly have no idea what's wrong with her, but she has given up. Shes laying in a ball with her eyes closed and her body is starting to get cold. It happened so fast, I really dont know what it was.
Update:
She came back in tonight. All the girls went in the coop except her. She just stayed outside puffed up in a ball. When I went to grab her she practically fell over. She hardly as any balance. She's still highly interested in food. I gave her another Fish Mox pill tonight and hoping...
She got a lot less puffy today, so I took her outisde with the rest of the flock. Shes a little puffy and a little bit off balance too. She has to like move her wings to gain balance back. But shes still running around with them and looks happy
Will do. Should I put vaseline or preparation h or something on the gloved finger first?
I had talked to you on a previous thread about another one of my girls. My buff. We werent sure exactly what the problem was, but I gave her Fish Mox for 10 days and she did end up feeling better, but...
She is 2 1/2. Her crop feels fine, no weight loss in the breastbone area. Her vent looks beautiful. However, Her abdomen, or area right past her breastbone, does feel swollen.
As far as laying goes, we have 5 so we're not sure who's been laying but someone has been. 3 of them are 3 1/2 and 2...
