she’s still here this morning - I brought in our other hen to be with her during the night (I only have 2) and she seems relatively the same. same white mucous discharge but her vent isn’t blocked. Still crying out in pain whenever she pushes. If you put food straight in front of her face she...
please help - almost 5 year old hen unable to pass regular stool - have soaked in rosin salts but began struggling once she got out. she cries in pain every time she tries to release poop and it seems like not much is coming out besides a mucusy white substance.
An update: we had the hen necropsied and it came back inconclusive. There were no tumors or any other Marek’s signs. About a month later, we had another hen sadly pass away with similar symptoms - unbalanced, lethargic, and having diarrhea. We believed we had caught it earlier than the last hen...
I am wondering if anyone has ever experienced something like this? She’s acting like she has splay leg and is still having poor quality poops. Id prefer to try to figure out every possibility before jumping to Marek’s.
It’s cold here and I haven’t put a light in their coop yet so none of my hens are laying currently since they think it’s winter. I am just going to try to keep her comfortable and possibly take her to the vet if she worsens. Thank you so much for your help, Eggcessive.
All of my flock has been vaccinated for marek’s, and are completely isolated from any other chickens. They are all the same age and I got them all at the same time. She is able to eat from her current position so I don’t think that’s an issue.
She’s 2 1/2. Her entire bottom was covered in poo.i noticed her when I was going out to give them their normal food- so this occurred immediately after not having feed for 2 days. She is eating a bit, but doesn’t seem too interested.
