I’m having the same issue! I had two different sets of eggs shipped. One was delayed a day in transport. I put most under my broody and four in the incubator. I candled today (day four-I know, too early but I forgot to candle initially to check for cracks. None of them have any veining inside...
*FINAL UPDATE*
I came home today to find the chick dead in the brooder. I don’t really know what that means. Maybe it was a head injury. I don’t know. It’s been a rough day here. I lost four chicks overnight to a raccoon who pulled them through the wire on the coop. It’s never easy having chicks.
*UPDATE*
I got the baby vitamin drops and have been giving two drops/day and giving concentrated save a chick electrolytes by syringe. The chick still can’t eat or drink. It spins but also moves its head back and forth while it’s still. The best way I can describe it is nystagmus of its head...
Thank you! She didn't lay these eggs, I purchased them from a local breeder.
I'm definitely going to buy a different kind of feed tomorrow. I can't risk this happening to everyone else too.
Thank you again!!! Your information and links have been most helpful. I'll update soon, hopefully...
Perfect! Thank you! Is it safe to give to all the chicks from this hatch and the mama too at this dose? She's so tiny and gets really stressed when she's separated from the others.
It definitely appears to be a neurological issue. Would you say it's safe to say that my feed is bad quality? It's the brand that my local feed store sells and is definitely a chick starter/crumble feed. I'm freaking out because all my flock is eating it right now because most of them are...
Chick saver, like the electrolyte supplement? I have a bunch of that. Is there vitamin E in that? What is the dose of vitamin E and Selenium? I'm searching or that now but just curious if you might know.
Could it still be wry neck is her neck isn't twisted or looking up? When she's not turning in circles she looks completely normal. She has moments where she looks like all the other chicks then she starts turning again.
I have 8 bantam cochin and Porcelain D'Uccle chicks that I hatched under a broody hen five days ago. Everybody has been doing fine until this afternoon when I noticed that one of the cochins was cheeping excessively and turning in circles. She turns about five or six times then stops and her...
I have a Golden Sebright and a Silver Sebright that I suspect both might be cockerels. They are almost 6 weeks old and have been running with my hens and other chicks for the last few weeks so they know the routine and respect the hierarchy(for now!) As I live in the city I can't keep them...
I’m going to jump on here and see if I can get some help for my polish chicks too. They’re almost 6 weeks old except the buff laced. That one is almost 10 weeks (and FUNKY looking!) And sorry I only got one pic of the white crested blue, that one is wild.
I have two Sebrights that are about five and a half weeks also and I’m pretty sure they are roos. Any thoughts?
Also, mine seem so much smaller than the ones in the previous post! They were in a bantam bin mix at my local feed store.
I emailed the hatchery the chicks came from with pics and they think this one may be a dark Brahma or a penciled Cochin (both bantam). It has light colored skin and doesn’t look like other silkie chicks I’ve had in the past. They’re all getting a chick starter crumble. I’m guessing it’s just a...
I purchased some mixed bantam chicks from the local feed store on May 7th so they're now a little over five weeks old. Everyone has feathered out nicely except this one chick. I think it only has maybe four feathers (other than down) on its entire body. Does anyone have any idea why this is...
