    Michigan winter

.You would have gotten different responses if we knew you has such small premade coops. Not saying that they are BAD,, just small, and we all need to start somewhere. Only thing I can suggest ; Make sure there is minimal direct wind blowing at your coops. Use tarps to create wind stop...

    Any Home Bakers Here?

Jared,, no need to use the term paranoid, ... You are just being cautious and health concerned. :hugs FYI,, I think there was a study on possibility of a contaminated egg possibility. Something rings a bell that it was one in 10,000. So chances are slim. Second part about raw eggs...

    Crazy Chickens Daily (hopefully)

Not a reliable broody,, I would not do it. If you do choose to,, there is not much to loose. Most peeps choose to break broodies, so they get back into egg production. Other reason, ,some broodies do go thru a semi starvation diet doing such.

I culled my first cockerel, now what?

Am pretty sure its the acid contents that softens the meat. As I mentioned before, I specialize in soups. DW does all the other chicken dishes. :drool:drool:drool I also don't have my own aged chickens to process,, But for those that do,, a good option for tough meat is to run it thru...

    Let’s Talk Ducks

I'm a Doggie and Kittie combo :old ❤️ If I had water pond, I definitely would have ducks. Small number as pets only. I once considered quail, but they have to be caged, or they will run/fly away. So I passed on them since they could not free-range.

Multiple pigeon nests laying three eggs- what's going on??

It takes quite a bit to nurse/feed 3 squabs. Only thing I suggest you try,, If you decide to have more baby pigeons,,, Limit to 2 viable eggs,, and remove #3, and replace with plastic. WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

Question of the Day - Monday, September 29th, 2025

Long ago I used to do vegetables. I transitioned to container gardening, and do mostly flowers. I did grow one container of pickles, for daily consumption when it was going strong. In the back yard, I have transitioned all flowers to perennial type, including lilies, and a few rose bushes...

Making use of a little side niche in my coop/run

Great picture, Now I can see some opportunities. I would leave the litter area as is. This way you can scoop out the gumdrops with a litter scooper. I would also leave those stone pavers in place. You can change out the litter medium with fresh if you feel it necessary. If so...

Making use of a little side niche in my coop/run

Without pictures, Its difficult for myself at least to envision everything, and make suggestions. One note on the height of nest boxes. Make sure they are high enough for hen to be able to stand up, when laying egg. Consider there will be nesting material, which should be taken into...
