Any Home Bakers Here?

Got a question.

I am reading a mocktail recipe book I purchased, and some drinks call for egg white or egg yolk. Nothing about cooking them so far.

Isn’t that unsafe? Wouldn’t you get salmonella?
People have been eating raw eggs as long as there have been eggs.

Yes it is possible to contaminate the eggs.

Personally I have never gotten sick from eating raw eggs.

BTW, every time that you taste the batter of anythiing containing eggs, (cake batter, cookie dough, etc.) you are eating raw eggs.

Thank you for clarifying. To be honest, I am a little paranoid. I guess it comes with ADHD. I guess I could try pasteurizing the eggs before I use them, if that’s even possible.

Even then, I don’t even know if that’s necessary or not.

Jared,, no need to use the term paranoid, ... You are just being cautious and health concerned. :hugs

FYI,, I think there was a study on possibility of a contaminated egg possibility.
Something rings a bell that it was one in 10,000.
So chances are slim.
Second part about raw eggs;
Mayonnaise is made with such.
It is suggested to not keep potato salad outdoors very long in warm weather. (summer picnics)
Reason behind that; Potato salad does contain raw eggs,,,, but the bacteria growth possibility is not only from the internal bacteria,,, but bacteria flying around everywhere we live.
Raw eggs is an excellent medium for bacteria growth.
Refrigeration is the best option for keeping bacteria from developing.
Remember that it takes more than a few bacteria organisms to make you sick. Like in the thousands+

Backed NFC apple oat bread, delicious, I used mostly emmer, which made the dough somehow wetter, even though I only used 70 % hydration ( I use 80% with spelt)
