I am treating canker. I have tablets that are 250 mg, the hen is just under 1 lb (I cannot be more precise as she was uncooperative to say the least). What dosage would I administer? Thank you.
Apologies for pestering you with questions, but I was wondering: could I start him off on a smaller dose, maybe just four pills? Or would he need the full dose in order for any difference to be made?
How old is your chicken?
Sadly, Vivienne had internal laying or something similar. Her abdomen filled with fluid until it became hard, like a water balloon, and she ended up passing away after a few months. I didn't noticed the fluid until later on, after I posted this.
If your hen is...
The first photo is what I sent to the vets about two weeks ago, the second is one I took just now (apologies for the quality, I didn't have any help)
One of the vets did take a look at him briefly, and he said it was canker, but I don't know if he did any tests or if it was just guesswork...
Thank you for your help ❤
I still have some hope that it is canker rather than something worse, since he got sick at the exact same time as another one who has since recovered. Also, since using the metronidazole, two very small patches in his beak cleared up, but the huge patches in his throat...
Canker. It's gotten really bad, the inside of his throat is swollen to the point where he can't swallow, and it's been like that for months now. The vet prescribed metronidazole for ten days, which I did, but I don't think anything has improved. I tried to contact this vet again--along with...
What would dosage be for a five-pound rooster?
@casportpony
Thanks in advance for any help, it would be so incredibly appreciated. I'm terrified that I would get the dosage wrong and accidentally hurt him.
My rooster has had canker for a while and he's just finished a ten-day vet-prescribed metronidazole treatment without much of a result. I think he may have showed a little bit of improvement in some areas, but overall, he hasn't gotten much better and I fear for his life at this point.
So, has...
I didn't actually get to see the vet (would've been nice if I had). They were taking animals in one by one and then bringing them back out to the parking lot. One of the assistants asked if he had been eating and I replied that yes, he had, so they probably gave him that because he's a bit thin...
Just want to be sure--my vet prescribed this for my rooster with canker. I hate to be distrustful, but this vet has let me down before, so I wanted a second opinion. Thanks!
I took him to a vet today (hoping that they'd have something) and they confirmed canker and gave him panacur? They advised using it alongside the metronidazole...do you think that's a good decision to use those together?
