Well I picked up 5. They looked to have been kept in poor conditions. When I got home I put them with the others. I have 25 pullets and 3 wild ducks I took in as someone found them at work and they would have died had they not been picked up. Anyways the 5 new ducks ate and drank for 30 solid mins.
I am going to look at some baby ducks. One set the mom is a Khaki Cambell and the dad is Ancona/Rouen mix. Anyone with any thoughts on how to identify the females from the males? Thanks
I don't know much about ducks. We have 4 Welsh Harlequins that lay almost every day. They used to be real loud but as of the past few months they have quieted down a bunch. We feed them the same food as the chickens and have never had any problems with them. We do bleach their pond over night...
Thanks. We had another die yesterday. It was sick for couple days and just died unlike the first one mentioned in this thread. The other ones look fine but we are keeping a close eye on them.
Also we clean out the duck pond every day. I dug a shallow water well about 12 years ago so it's a free...
We have been lucky. This is the third one out of 20 we have lost and we have had them almost 2 years. We take pretty good care of them. They lay a pretty decent amount of eggs. The ducks lay almost everyday. We learn and move on. Thanks to everyone who shared.
This is the first flock block we have ever bought them. We feed about 2 cups of corn to 17 chickens and 4 ducks just at night. It does not last long on the ground.
The buffs are just large breeds. We have two austerlops and they are pretty big as well. The rest of them are kinda just skinny...
I was thinking her weight may have been an issue. We feed them a handful of corn at night to get them put up and they have straight 20% laying pellets. We do feed them scraps and such but it's not a bunch. Between them and the ducks scraps dont stay on the ground long. Once a week they get a...
Yeah she's already gone. I felt her rear end and stomach and could not feel any eggs. My wife thinks she may have slipped off the side of the duck pond and hit her head on the way down. We found her right next to the pond. They have fresh clean water but some of them insist on drinking dirty...
Late yesterday around 6:30 in the evening I cored 2 pineapples. I cut what was left in half and fed it to my chickens (17) and ducks (4). I have done this a few times since we have had them. I never feed them to top of the pineapple. I always twist the top off then core the inside with a coring...
Not sure what's going on. I have 18 chickens and 4 Welsh Harlequin ducks all about 16 months old. Chickens kinda tailed off over the last couple months but have started laying more. Up until about 3 months ago the ducks were laying machines. I was getting 25 plus eggs a week from them. They all...
The numbers are in for March. Duck total is 122 and the chicken total is 510 for a grand total of 632. Warmer weather really helped. All four ducks laid at least one egg everyday in March except for two days. They are egg laying machine. I also had my first day in which every bird laid at least...
So the totals for February are down some because we had some uncommonly colds for quite a few days. Duck total was 105 and chicken total was 435 for a total of 540. It's already warm and muggy here and I doubt we will see anymore cold weather so I'm fairly sure we will see more eggs in March.
That's basically all it is. Well runs water in one end and drains in the alley. I have a 1/4 turn valve to drain it. The pvc is 4" and the drain is 1 1/2". I would put the biggest drain in as possible. They will clog it up easily.
