I’m on with getting some new pens made myself so I can show you once they’re completed. As for keeping them clean, if you have a search for my “Bathing Silkies” article you’ll see how I keep them clean 🙂
I’ve currently got this three week old partridge who’s looking nice so far, feathering in as female from the feathers that are visible. Going to be a little poser when older!
If you just pop a search in google for Agricultural Shows or Country Shows near Essex it should bring some up that are within distance to you. Not all do poultry but most have a website which tell you the sections they have.
Also, you can go onto the PCGB website and it will give you a list of...
What eggs are you incubating? (Chicken, duck, quail etc)
If they’re sinking to the bottom on day 25 they are no good. Eggs that have developed right and are ready to hatch should float at the top and be wobbling with the chick moving.
It’s worth you still candling them with a bright torch though.
Yep he’s a cockerel! Comb size, crest shape and body shape say boy. The reason he isn’t showing wattles is because he’s bearded. As for the blue earlobes, all silkies get blue earlobes, some can have mulberry coloured earlobes too but it doesn’t mean it’s Male or female 🙂
Yes I did, I put half a bag of rice in there and it still stuck at 56-57% 🤷♀️ was in there for 2 days.
Humidity only dropped when I removed some of the clear eggs.
Humidity has dropped to 49% after I removed some eggs from the incubator 🤔 the spike in humidity must be due to how many eggs are in the incubator.
I’m guessing if I removed more it would drop again.
Humidity at 49% still isn’t great but it’s far better than 57%!
Day 4 today, candled the eggs!
There was 9 clears but the rest are developing 🥳
There is also more developing in another incubator too.
As for humidity, it’s still sticking at around 55% now which is really annoying me.
I did try the rice in a bag as suggested but it didn’t do anything to...
That’s the only thing I can really think of too, something to do with the eggs 🤷♀️
The incubator was reading 45% before I put the eggs in then it shot up to 57%.
It’s been like that for three days with no decrease in humidity so I guess all I can do is hope it eventually does drop, or of it...
I’ve tested all my incubators and they all read correct from their own, also recalibrated the incubators themselves (I have a few of these incubators).
I’ve used this incubator before.
Before I set eggs in them, I let them run for 24 hours to get to the correct temps and humidity. It did go to...
Since day 1 (now on day 3) the incubator has been reading humidity at 52% - 57% 😩
When I remove the lid it goes down to 40% but as soon as I put it back on it’s back up to 57%.
Ive added no water at all to the incubator, tried opening and closing the vents, room windows, everything.
not...
