Clan Mating System? Anyone use it?

It's surprisingly easy and doesn't take much record keeping. With my three clans I could keep a closed flock for about 20 years

Thoughts?? on my Blue Laced Red Wyandotte project chickens

Lol yes I know Jerry Foley has fantastic birds. He really sets the bar when it come to Blue Laced Red Wyandotte chickens. The breeders I bought from claim to have birds directly from him, but I never did call Jerry to prove this true or not. Either way I'm nowhere near Jerry Foley quality. I...

Thoughts?? on my Blue Laced Red Wyandotte project chickens

The Blue Laced Red comes in three colors: Blue, Splash, and black. So the birds with quite a bit of black on them are the black color variety. The individual that appear to have more white or a very light blue are actually the splash color variety. If you breed black and splash you get all blue...

How long can I leave a chick in the incubator??

We have babies! Three have hatched so fare and lots of eggs have lil peep holes and I even saw some rocking... My question is How long can I leave these guys in there? I don't want to take them out and risk shrink wraping the eggs still in the process of hatching?! Thanks

    Candling eggs *please help*

Well that's what I'm not sure of... I think it's just unfilled space at the pointed end?? Is that normal at 14 days of incubation? Nither space, on either end of the egg, moved when I changed the eggs angle...

    Candling eggs *please help*

What does it mean when an eggs has an air cell at both ends of the egg? ️I candled at 14 days and some eggs had tiny air cells or a tiny space at the rounded end, as well as a large air cell at the pointed end? Should there only be an air cell at the pointed end, and the rounded end be filled...

eggs getting enough oxygen?? Advice please!!

My incubator is a Pro Series Circulated Air Incubator with an automatic egg turner... I'm new to this and my incubator has two red plugs that pop out to allow more air flow. The instructions say only take then out at time of hatching... but if I leave them in all this time, before hatching...

Thank you all so much for you're responses! Yes this would be the first day of incubation. I've only ever used broody hens before this and they all did so well... I'm very nervous about using an incubator for the first time! But I kept thinking that a hen doesn't keep the eggs at a perfect...
