Several Heritage Breeds including Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks. Need to reduce my flock--great opportunity to start with backyard chickens.
I have two rescue dogs a pitbull and a lab and both hated cats. It took a while--but I used crates and baby gates to keep them apart. I would let the dog have run of the house and then put him away. Then the cat would have run of the house and then when it got calmer--the baby gates created...
You are definitely in my prayers and in the meantime these folks may be able to help...
They are all located near you and can offer food, cash and maybe housing or other help. There is no shame in being down on your luck but you have to ask for help. Life will turn around for you--just keep...
I currently have a Cornish Cross who was born 8/29/08...she is still going strong and is a layer. She was supposed to be processed Halloween of that year--but she was too sweet.
I am taking in small processing requests--10 chickens and under. I will bag and tag your birds with dignity and compassion at a reasonable cost. Contact me via email, message or my website www.pearberryfarm.com
Currently looking at the week of 3/29/2010

It looks like it could be the beginning of black head--but you stated the waste was good, in black head it will be yellow and foamy and your turkey will be listless and have ruffled feathers etc and look sick. It is a protozoan infection that turkeys who live with chickens are prone to get it...
SAY Cheese! Look what I caught!!!!!
This little bugger scaled a 6' fence, climbed a metal wall, tore through netting, and finally got greedy...

Any one have a good raccoon recipe--My mom made it years ago--but she has passed and so have my grandparents--I remember it tasting like really juicy roast beef...I am anticipating a catch...Mercy will be that it will be a swift death when I catch it(them)

I looked at pictures of Mink and Weasel and what I saw had ears more upright and rounded like the fisher or a coon...The dogs and I were on multiple tours last night and it did not return. It is just a matter of time though. Too bad these are somewhat endangered...now I know why. I...
I have been at it all day and I am exhausted. I don't know what to do and I know this whatever will be back, At this point I have a responsibility to protect my remaining birds as they are, excuse the pun, sitting ducks. I have locked up as many as I can and will be waiting...

I looked up a fisher cat and it definitely resembles what I saw last year...
How do get rid of it--if it will attack me and my dogs--which are a chocolate lab and pit bull?

But on a happier note--God does hear all prayers. A local hatchery...

I just feel like crying--but I have too many birds to process...keep me in prayer.
Thank you everyone...but I need to get busy making sense of this and...
Back in Oct--I lost 5 in one night under very similar circumstances so I built a new run, fenced everything in and covered everything with netting. We were good until about 3 nights ago when something got a pair of roosting Turkey Poults--they were on the outside of the netting where I couldn't...
Some have bite wounds--some are just dead. The exterior is surrounded by 6' fencing and the run has wire and aviary netting--so it definitely was not a dog--unless he climbed the wall and the fence. But thank you. The babies may be the result of being trampled--but there was a wing and an...
