Those birds are stunning. I had New Hamps in the past. And a fan of both breeds. Do you have pictures of the width of those birds? Asking because I like to see wide backs, skulls and good tail teepee with good width between legs when I evaluate birds.
Good morning,
The message is blank? Do you have an email so I can ask some questions? I would like to see photos of your hens/pullets also. I am in Georgia so I am not overseas.
Thank you!
I did that. This was before I learned about the Rattlesnake line. I see only one person is offering hatching eggs of that line and of course hatching eggs are hit and miss!
I believe Chet is not breeding anymore ? And I saw someone has eggs from rattlesnake ridge. But my priority is true blacks even though I would love to work with blues in a SEPARATE group. And use the true blacks to improve the blue pen when needed. I used to have black copper marans for several...
You are right, getaclue! It’s hard. I have been finding plenty of faults when I google especially tails and toplines. The blues are way too light. But I am particular to blacks so would have a separate section for blues. Australia has approved blues for showing.
Thanks Ronott. I had hatchery Australorps years ago when I had my first chickens. Thinking about them again! But I have been since spoiled with the SOP birds!
I am glad to have found this thread. Who else shows black Australorps other than Matt ulrich and Dan castle? I know I am missing a couple. Man finding SOP Australorps is hard! And even harder that they are willing to show stock. :).
Since it has been a while. Does anybody also raise Marans in Georgia? I remember Taylor Hobby Farms... but they are out of the business now. :( I am starting over again and my best cockerel got attacked by some creature this morning. The eggs are smallish, and the splash marans pullet looks...
If anybody is looking for pet quality roosters, I need to thin out my flock a little bit. I have posted an ad in the classifieds - 3 marans and 1 blue jersey giant. I am in NE Georgia.
Thanks.
