    Vaccinated for mg?

Has anyone successfully vaccinated for MG? I have a vet coming to our hobby farm to confirm diagnosis. I have grow outs and week old chicks that have not had contact with the flock. We raise chickens as pets, as well as for meat and eggs. We are also interested in breeding and selling chicks...

Thanks! We bought the tractor from an individual and added hog wire skirting. People keep dropping off dogs on my road 🙄🙄

    Chicken tractor/breeding pen/feed

We just started 4 hens in a tractor. We think we will move it every third day. In a couple of weeks, we will add a roo for a few days just to make sure he covers all the girls. Then he will go back to the flock. We might also swap out hens every few weeks. We raise dual purpose birds and the...

moving a broody hen (pictures requested)

My broody hen won't stay put. I would love to let her hatch eggs, but she keeps moving. She seems to want to sit on everything but what I want her to sit on, including fake eggs :barnie Will moving her break her broody? When I was trying to break brood in the past, I moved them for a couple of...

New to chickens. New to compost.

I want to put a compost bin in my chicken run to use in my small veggie garden. I’ve planted potatoes and garlic. If I put the left over greens in the compost of the run, will it hurt my birds?

Swollen eye, no smell, matted beard

Perked up today! Ate some scratch with dried worms and part of a bantam scrambled egg. Here are pics of her mouth. There definitely looks like mucus at the back of her throat. No lesions I can see. If you need more views let me know.

Swollen eye, no smell, matted beard

We have treated sick birds in the past without success. It has been a while. There doesn't seem to be congestion, just clear fluid from her nose. I just noticed that yesterday. No sneezing. I don't see injury to the eye, just swelling. She will open it when I put the eye gel on it, but it...

Swollen eye, no smell, matted beard

I do not see any lesions. I will take pictures when I get back home. The shot I have is Tylan 200. She doesn't have mites or lice. I did give her a bath yesterday so I could look her over and take care of the matting on her beard.

Swollen eye, no smell, matted beard

Her crop is emptying. She’s not eating unless I “make her”. I dip her mouth in yogurt or watermelon. I noticed her nose running yesterday. Should I give a shot.

Swollen eye, no smell, matted beard

Two days ago, Ms Maybel didn’t greet me by flying onto my lap. Instead, I found her huddled under a chair in the run. (She had already laid that day— she’s less than a year old) I picked her up and noticed her eye was matted shut. Her mouth is open more than normal and I thought I saw blood...

    Egg bound?

We think two days. She roosted early the other day. I thought she was just tired of our young roo. Her comb had a sore spot. She was still roosting yesterday afternoon when I got home. So, I picked her up. I got this gooey white stuff on my shirt and she smelled bad. She went in a warm bath...

    Small awning ideas?

This is the door that needs one. I don’t have a pic of the back of the coop since we added more ventilation. It’s a metal building converted to a coop

    Small awning ideas?

I added more ventilation but now I need two awnings. What have other people used? One needs to be about a foot long, the other needs to be about two feet. (The rest of the ventilation already has awnings coming off the roof )

    Coop starting to smell. Dbm

We have discussed expanding both the coop and run in the spring. I think I could start the cutting now and cover with hardwire cloth. 🤔

    Coop starting to smell. Dbm

Rain gets in maybe a foot. The smell is toward the back. How could I fix that without loosing the venting?
