i just found one of my barred rocks dead in the coop this morning..i noticed last night that she had a lot of yellowish white diahrea ..I cleaned up her vent and feathers and she seemed fine...this morning she was dead just by the waterer I have hanging in the coop...she had some slim in her...
i have 3 acres of land they they roam about as they please...makes for great eggs! chickens really do know best when it comes to eating...plus when they go in the coop they have layer feed and fresh water all day long!!
oh no.i let then out though their large runs to free range everday..even on rainy days, they go back in the coop when they want to...or under my porch lol
Ok...my BO went broody a few days ago..i got some fertile eggs from a friend's chickens..i took my Buff off the nest and she went over to eat and drink..i put the 5 eggs in the nest..just before ahe got in the nest she pooped alot and it was runny and had seeds in it..kind of pale orange/yellow...
i have 8 of these beauties...different sizes but the feathers on all of them are just beautiful...and this one is special...she loves to be held and petted! I call her Cricket!
awesome! what breed of rooster do you have? I was thinking about getting one, so i dont have to stay outside every minute with my girls...although i do love watching them..its just that sometimes i have to cook dinner while trying to keep a watchful eye on them..we have 3 acres of woods around...
i ordered all mine from Mc Murray Hatchery in Iowa...great service and all the chick arrived in PA healthy and happy! They have all turned out to be great chickens and layers!! LOve them all!!

I have three Buffs that sleep on a 2x4 window sill by the coop door...i have a night cam in the coop and when I check them at least two of them are standing up. When they first fly up to roost they are crowded on the 2x4, in a row..the middle ones head it tucked under the first one...i first...
