I went out to check on everyone and noticed my broody was off her nest. Decided I would check on the eggs while she was off. Without picking any up, I noticed two had pips in them. Is this normal for the momma to leave her eggs during hatch? My other broody never moved from those eggs until they...
I'm puzzled by my last hatch. The chicks that ended up hatching where sticky and the eggs I opened up during eggtopsy revealed skrink wrapped chicks. There was no internal pipping from the dead chicks.
Here is my incubation log:
Days 1-18: I ran a dry hatch in egg cartons. I ended up...
6 hatched here, 1 zipping and another pip... off to work I go. I assisted in 2 hatches and the humidity stayed around 65. One chick I assisted isn't doing well. The other is up and running about. They were sticky :-(
I'm beyond excited for you!
Gofygure, glad to hear things are moving along for you. So far the chick that started zipping has stayed in the same position. I have two more zipping but they are taking hours doing so. Three other pips and waiting on 15 more to pip. This hatch is taking their...
LMAO, I'm doing laundry, cleaned out the second bator preparing for yet another hatch, about to grill some dinner, and in a couple hours Ill be studying. They'll probably wait until we are in bed to make their grand entrance... did I mention the bator's in my room? Smart one I know ... I'll look...
Gofygure, Great news! Can't wait to see pics of the fluffy butts running around.
Loopy, thanks for your help. The little chick is resting up. Still in the same position but doesn't seemed stressed.
One zipping and four pips! I hear chirps and scratching noises. Here's a question for you all... the one chick who zipped turned his head away from where he had zipped and his beak is turned in the opposite direction. Also, I noticed some green goo, what the heck. Any guesses on the green goo?
Day 20 and 3rd day of lockdown and I hear peeping and see wiggling in my bator! Going out of town until tomorrow am. Nervous to leave the bator's side. I'm hoping they hold off and wait to pip until I'm home.
My broody got off her nest to eat and drink this am. So I took the chance to candle...
