We do the deep litter method here so i add pine shavings, lime, and DE every 2 weeks and every 4-6 weeks I completely take out the shavings, clean the floors (linolium) and roosts and windows.
I learned a great trick for the feeders and waterers that might be helpful... I have extras of both...
I've heard in the past somewhere on here that if they are vaccinated the vaccine is sloughted off through their skin after the first two weeks and are not able to pass on maerks after day 14. Has anyone else heard this?
Just under $500 for 6 coops attached to the same run. Lots of recycled windows etc.. Most expensive was the fencing & hardware cloth. We will make that back in like 100 years or so
Family of 5 on one acre, with 14 acres around us of fields. Just counted 63 chickens, (still not sure how that's even possible). Enough for us to eat, and give, and my six year old sells the eggs too.
I have a bunch close to your ages too and they don't roost yet either. they do enjoy trying out the roosts during the day, but at night they sleep together in"clumps" on the floor on pine shavings. Give them time, they will get there soon
is there anyone out there who had a chick that survived spradle leg?
if so, did yours still limp, or walk normal after they matured ?

I have a chick that is about one week old and has had spradle leg for the whole first week. I still have her legs splinted with a bandaid. She limps only putting weight on the one leg for a brief second while holding her weight with the main leg. Much of the time she lays down, but looks...
