I have Silver Lakenvelders born April 22, and some Hamburgs 2 and 3 weeks younger. None of them will roost at night. The Silver Lakenvelders all pile in the corner by the door. Do they just not like my real wood roosts? I have small to large ones. A few Hamburgs may get on them during the day but not at night........

They are young... give them time.

Is the roost about 12 inches high - higher than the area they're presently sleeping in, and at least 1 foot away from the wall? (It's nice to have the roost be a 2 x 4 with rounded edges, but not essential in warmer areas.) Make sure the roost is relatively thick... not a thin dowel.

Not sure where you're located - could they be cold?

I think it's just about giving them time.... they're young still.

It's eggciting with little ones and hard to be patient - I know. Hang in there. They'll be roosting in no time

I have a bunch close to your ages too and they don't roost yet either. they do enjoy trying out the roosts during the day, but at night they sleep together in"clumps" on the floor on pine shavings. Give them time, they will get there soon

I just put them on the roost after dark when i closed them up for the night. After the 3rd. night they were getting up there on their own. Just have to show them the way. Good Luck
