I wonder... could they be DewlapToulouse w/ those saggy butts? They are so-o-o cute. My mom had non-dewlapToulousebreed w/o the saggy butts back in the 1950's.
What breed do you have?
Large breeds like embden and dewlapToulouse sexually mature later than light breeds, so you can expect them not to lay until around two years old. Small/ light breed geese become sexually mature at around seven months to one year old which is when you can expect to...
Crosses maybe. The big gosling is very pale, does it have blue eyes?
Toulouse should be grey with no white patches other than the butt fluff.
French Toulouse are variable but generally grey, occasionally with some white.
Pilgrim goose hens are light grey with a white face and the ganders...
My flock of a doz DewlapToulouse are laying. These are the ultimate goose breed. I have Buff ganders over Buff hens, Blue over Gray hens & Gray over Gray hens! I'm vending locally via Cr-list. I'm in Moxee, WA. I've been raising and selling DewlapToulouse for 15 years in multiple colors...
I have 3 ganders. They are generally pretty happy among their own little flock, but with breeding season right around the corner, I would like to find a few female geese to enhance their lives.
I recalled a local man joking about how he had released a couple of domestic geese at a nearby lake...
Hello, neighbors!

White African Gander x Embdener goose
These are large goslings, as big as Exhibition Toulouse but longer and with a less blocky neck and head. These look like they’ll have some dewlap from the gander. They look saddle-backed and the coloring and pattern is most similar to Scania goslings. These...
Father is buff dewlaptoulouse, mom is white embden. The gander is white/ goose buff, the goose is nearly indistinguishable from a purebred dewlap, her dewlap is larger than it appears in photo. Wondering if breeding this pair would possibly produce white dewlap geese. I'v noticed from past...
Ah! You can't see the keel in the pictured buff toulouse, either, but I can see now how people might mistake the breast for the keel.
The keel is the bone, and if the goose is thin enough that it's visibly pronounced, that's a huge problem.
By no means am I any expert. My photo above is of one of my younger buff geese…it has a “normal” keel.
The goose below is a Buff DewlapToulouse with a more “pronounced” keel and is also sporting two lobes.
I think it’s confusing also, birds with prominent keel are not necessarily emaciated...
Not the lobes, those are down underneath and droop down from belly between their legs.
The keel is basically the breast bone area. Some breeds are more naturally shaped, others like dewlapToulouse, may have a more prominent keel and it sticks out...
Hi! Sebastopols seem so cute but boy are they expensive!! 😳 I did not know that you can have TSC order them for you. I am pretty close to Cackle Hatchery, only 2-3 states away, which should be okay. Have you ordered from Cackle before?
So would Toulouse goose eggs be in the incubator for 35 days...
With animals, you are wise to do research before diving into anything new. It's always best to know what you're getting into before you take the leap! That said, geese are quite simple to raise. If they have access to good pasture, they can be almost self-sufficient. I love my geese. They're so...
Wow! Thank you so much for the info! That picture is very similar to what it looks like, just on a smaller scale! I appreciate the info about the feed. I forgot to mention that they graze on grass outside as well. I have some B complex I will add to the feed as well. I really appreciate your input!
I think this is just genetics. It looks like she’s developing the extra skin that super dewlapToulouse are known for, I know she’s a super African but I think the same genes are involved for these traits in both breeds.

Evolution made it happen. The New Zealand goose was estimated to be 40 pounds. Evolution has its own timeline though, and rapid changes can have negative consequences, some of the heaviest dewlapToulouse can sometimes have leg issues. The idea is intriguing but breeding for health along with...
They aren’t grey geese. Pink beaks indicate that they’ll be white, buff, or some other dilute form.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that they are embdens, they may be some other breed or crosses.
My french toulouse all had black beaks as babies, true grey comes out with black beaks but that...
