Should we be breeding for increased size? I'm wondering what's the upper limit size in geese or if there is one? I am aware of prehistoric water fowl that were much larger.

Can we get to a Turkey sized goose now?

Evolution made it happen. The New Zealand goose was estimated to be 40 pounds. Evolution has its own timeline though, and rapid changes can have negative consequences, some of the heaviest dewlap Toulouse can sometimes have leg issues. The idea is intriguing but breeding for health along with size is a must for anyone trying it.
I’d love a turkey or rhea sized goose

So my giant mother goose is only with us in the genes of her offspring. Next year to replace her, I will select for large eggs. If the average egg is 4" now I'll select for 6" eggs and see what we get. I selected my current trio by keeping the smaller eggs with good form.

Maybe we can get some tissue samples and then use the dna to breed back into domestic geese for better size….. and also to sic them on enemies
