Thank you for the reply. I love the blue eggs, muffs and sweet personality of the 10 yr old girl I have. I want more like her-but I may need to move on to another breed.
Why are nice quality lavender ameraucana LF so hard to find? There are many more breeders of BBS it seems. Do they have more problems like cross-beak or bad feathers than the other ameraucana?
thank you. I hate to lose her she is so sweet and the best quality of the 3 Lavender Ameraucana's I was able to get locally. Its weird that she improves then relapses once she goes off the meds.
Thank you. Using the nystatin cream that a friend had- Pearls crop issue cleared up. I treated for 7 days. She felt marvelous. Then yesterday I noticed she was a little off. I told my husband- I’m going to worm her again with the safeguard goat wormer- actually weigh her and not guesstimate. So...
I want to give everyone an update on this thread about Pearl. We are battling sour crop again for the last 2 weeks with her slowly declining more and more.
I had previously tried to monistat route (with yogurt etc) which improved the situation but did not clear it completely. She would relapse...
Can you recommend any other chicken products I should order at the same time that are good to have on hand and not available at a local store like Tractor supply?
Can I get nystatin without a prescription? We don’t have any chicken vets in my rule area. I see several different kinds for sale online liquid tablets powder. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.
Thank you. I am treating the whole flock (of 4 lol). But if I had really understood the directions and that’s my thought I would’ve probably chose something different. I do have the liquid goat warmer the safeguard I could try that again I guess. I’m not familiar with the nystatin but I will...
I have a 1 yr old Lavender Ameraucana hen that keeps getting sour crop. I treat it with monistat and it clears up but in a few weeks come back. She is fine otherwise and has laid eggs. I’ve treated them with safeguard goat wormer but not positive my dosage/treatment window was correct. So I...
I don't need show quality. I did that years ago with Belgian D'Anvers. My young girls are over 1 now but their eggs are much smaller than Lyla's. She is lighter in color and slightly larger but does have a larger egg.
My old hen Lyla is Lavender Ameraucana. Beautiful sweet and smart! I wanted to get some more like her but the breeder sold out his stock to someone else who only sold day old chicks - then lost all of them during hurricane Helene.
I have been looking for several years. Last Spring I found...
This afternoon she is okay but not at her peak. Makes weird head movements like trying to swallow. You know her comb is not pale…which has me rethinking the worms. I’m too timid to tune her. What about the 1/2 tsp of epsom salts in 1/2 cup water given orally 2 times a day?
@Wyorp Rock if the worms were the problem. how many days would you expect it to take to see results? She feels fairly marvelous. I’m just noticing that she’s not quite herself and she has an enlarged crop that’s rather squishy. She is eating and foraging. I’m on day three of the wormer.
Laying crumbles, free range for an hour or so a day, very small amounts of scratch - water
I treated her with the generic monistat 2 x a day for 7 days each time, plus coconut oil.
I wormed her with the goat wormer (1 x for one day) but I did NOT repeat it in 10 days??.....
She is doing the...
