8 weeks. Do I continue Niacin?
Yes, I have two Pekins and 3 Blue Swedish. Im using up the nutritional yeast on them, but Once its done I’ll probably just stick to the niacin in the water a few times a week. They get some pretty good foraging nutrition In my veggie garden. -

When do you stop leaving food out 24/7
This is pretty much what I do. But the mice are around. Im allergic to cats and my border collie would probably chase the cat away. I’ll just keep fighting the good fight. -

Our 5 week olds are now in the run and house 24/7. So is their food which is bringing in mice. I bag the feeder at night, but it’s still out 12-13 hours a day. The girls do stomp/beak the mice to death Im assuming because I have now found two dead with no obvious injuries. I’d like to start... -

I moved their pool to the area that’s under the oak canopy. Threw tomatoes, blueberries and mill worms out for them to forage. They ate those, then climbed into the pool for an HOUR. I finally decided to evict them, and they just stared at me. Hoping when theyre older and I start limiting feed... -

Good idea. They love peas, but for some reason cherry tomatoes are like crack to them. Ill give it a try. The garden area itself is open, but it’s surrounded by large oaks, rose trellis’,and string lights.Perhaps just a tad bit too open for them at this point. But I swear, I go in the garden... -

Thanks to all. I just moved the lamp farther away from the brooder. It still beams down on a sliver of it. It does seem to warm up the garage just being on. The garage is connected to the house which helps..but not with the smell 😖 But they’ve been getting used to living in the 60s. A hot day up... -

I haven’t pulled water yet. But I did pull food at night, which stopped them from drinking or farting around as much. On the cooler nights mine love to nest in the straw. That’s one of the reasons I blend. -

I use pine shavings as a base, and wheat straw on top. The shavings help with the water,a little with the smell, and the wheat straw is cheaper and easier to spot clean. Our brooder is in the garage, the lamp is now outside of it just aiming in one corner at it’s highest point. The ducklings, 4 weeks old, dont seem to want it and are on the other side. Garage goes down to the mid-60s, outside is now mid-50s. Even on colder nights they seemed to not want it... -

Im going try to use the Sweet PDZ horse stall refresher to help some with the smell. Also I think we’re going to try to combine wheat straw and pine shavings. Straw is easy and cheap to get locally. The water spigot was just installed. We still need to set up the automatic waterer and build a ramp up to the duck house. There’s little stone wall they need help with. We have wicked storms up here, and a lot of predators, so this seemed like the best place. It will have to be cleaned...
