Stupid question, but clearly I'm clueless. I may adopt this little Banty rooster who's homeless. He comes with a couple Banty girlfriends (they were abandoned).
Will he breed with my Barred Rock hens? THANKS!

Can your puppy live inside?
Oh, the pup does live inside most of the time. The patio is just for her to tinkle in late at night so I don't have to walk on the road in my nighty.
So, I set the trap and guess what................ bait gone, no raccoon. Smart little guy. I cannot believe he figured out how to get the bait and not set it off.
The good news is trash was picked up today and hauled away, all dog food containers locked indoors and chickens are secure. No food...
how about adding an extra bedroom for them. Cable with the works!
Hang in there. You're not the first, by trial and error to have lost chickens. Just figure out the safest housing. I lost some to free ranging after a year of not one problem.
...I'm a wimp, I can eat meat when it comes from the store neatly wrapped.
I thought I would move it away (not near any houses) and let it return to *nature*, maybe make friends, raise a family or become a pet for Snow White or some wood elfin fairy..
I can't drown it because I most likely...

Oh, this is going to be tough. Maybe we just hang tough tll my little cattle dog is a few moths older? She's already trying to to track it at 9 weeks and parking like hell at the window at night trying to get to it (no, the Raccoon has no access to pup). Would just moving it just a few...
on another note (and I have not read every post in this thread) I just got a Cattle Dog pup. Now, she comes from ranch stock and they actually herd cattle, but yesterday, she was herding the chickens.
Would that be a big no no. I kind of thought it might be useful getting them locked in at end...

Will Animal Control kill it? If I move it from my house, to another location, is that cruel or abuse?
and no, I do not have it in me to kill it.
The PLan, trap the sucker and move him/her a few miles up road into another section of state park. I *heard* it was illegal to let them go?
Any tips (besides the ones that involve blowing it's raccoon brains out) are welcome.
...female shepherd (1 year) chased one (coyote) into the bush only to come running back with one chasing her
She's still getting her footing on being *top dog* (and trust me, I was less then 25 yards away when she ran after the coyote).
Anyway, we're picking up a new Cattle Dog puppy ths...
Gopher snake or not..... it scared the heck out of me at first glance. Even still, I used my zoom lens because I'm no expert.
I'm of the mind set that non poisonous snakes are ok to keep the rodent pop down. I'm thinking. less rodent, less chance of rattlesnakes. It's also the reason I got my...
