Where did you get them from? Your rouen could be a possible mix if you got them from someone or if you got them from a hatchery or feed store it could just be bad genetics that would cause it to have that white ring. It's a pretty think ring from what I can see and I remember on my male the ring...
Whew! That took awhile to go through and read everything.. Sorry I haven't been on much to put in input but seems that everyone has helped each other out and helped each other get the answers they need. It's nice to see everyone's ducky pics!
Thanks Amiga I will try over in that forum and see if anyone has any ideas.
as far as I know unless he was while he was roaming the yard during the day I don't see how that could of happened.
Yes I already buried him. Thank you. Would it have to be an avian vet that I send the poop too or can it be any vet? No it wasn't that far down it was more of between his back legs like almost directly in the middle. If he wasn't in the condition he was I would of spent a bit more time looking...
This morning I found one of my ducks laying there very stiff and not moving. I noticed a bunch of blueish green poop around where he was laying. Him and another duck are separated at night so my geese don't pick on them. When I put them to bed last night he was fine. Anyway so I picked him up...
Has everyone's Embden's started to lay? I have 2 ganders and 1 goose and have yet to find a goose egg. They will be a yr old here on May 5th so they are old enough. I live in northern New York, it's basically Canada so i'm not sure if they should be laying yet or not. I know that the Canada...
He was probably defending his territory. Any time other males are introduced to an already established flock the males will fight to establish dominance. Also if his lady is sitting on eggs that may be why also. Some drakes don't care if there lady(s) is sitting on eggs while on the other hand...
Yes technically it's not a crime to hit a dog, deer, cat, duck, goose, turkey, or whatever else if you were to call it in to get an accident report so you can claim it through your insurance your going to get a ticket no matter what. The cops will ticket you for something.
Just put down whatever it is that you are brooding them on now. If your using something that you couldn't put outside like old sheets or towels then i'd suggest either hay or pine shavings. I'd be careful about the kiddie pool especially if they have access to it when your not around. If they...
Omg that's terrible. At least that other car stopped. If I was the car behind them I would of gotten there license plate number and called the cops on them for leaving the scene of a crime. The good news is that ducks are very hardy and are amazing at recovering from things. How's Phillip doing...
That's great that he's eating and drinking. He is indeed very special. Since his beak is fractured i'd start putting some apple cider vinegar in his water to help keep it clean from bacteria.
My WH's are pretty calm and quiet. They can be loud sometimes but all ducks can. Not much you can really do about it as long as they have good and water they should be pretty quiet.
Oh my! Prayers for Philip. I hope he has a good recovery? How are his wounds? If he has open wounds that could get dirty i'd keep him in a smaller confined area so that he can heal and wont get dirt in his wounds.
You never know it's kind of a chance thing. If you try hatching and you end up having lots of babies die before they hatch or after. Or if you end up having defects with ducklings then you should add ducks from different lines into your group. But mostly that doesn't happen. Hatcheries hatch...
Ok I wasn't sure if you just set him there for pics or not. I'd give him so more vitamins/electrolytes. I've had some runners that sit more than my other ducks did so I added electrolytes and the problem went away. I used nutri drench which I got from my local tractor supply. Maybe it was a...
The dark one is a deff Rouen because the bottom stripe is only slightly broken up. Although Rouens normally have 2 eye stripes they can have 1 solid line and one that is broken up.
I went back through and looked at the pictures and I'm thinking it might be a Runner. I went through my runner's...
Well her foot healed up nicely and is all better. She's back out with the flock once again and is doing great. I'm glad her recovery was quick and simple with no complications. Thanks to all who helped.
