Yes, they must be purchased from a licensed breeder. You will receive a 3-186 form. If you go to sell or transfer any birds to someone else, you will need a Federal Sales and Disposal Permit. You will also need to comply with your State regulations regarding wild waterfowl.

You said body size is controlled by the female. I just asked for data to support that. I doubt body size (the ability to fly) is controlled by the female. Provide some actual data.

One of the problems is he will not fear people. Many people hate mergs, thinking they impact fisheries( which they can in some situations) and will kill them to protect the fisheries. A big reason to have people trained in rehab work with birds that will be released.

Well, without knowing the ME of the diet....it's guess work. Scott and Dean suggest about 18% if the ME is over 4200 kcal/kg....16.5 if the ME is 2950....I obviously do not agree entirely with Dave....but I would error on the side of higher protein to assure they get the amino acid compliment...
Sounds like you are doing well. Do have to say what you are doing is illegal, and clipping a toe will not change that. Best to prepare for it to leave...your ponds are not large enough or have enough prey base.

Can not say no problems will occur because there is no way of knowing if they have any deleterious genes. Unlikely they do, but can not tell. Usually those problems are expressed by dead-in-the-shell.

Certainly looks like angel wing...not sure why you wait if you are taking it to a rehab center. If you can not fix it now...it can not be released. Good intentions with poor results for the duck.

Yeah...but look, cheetahs have 99% homozygosity, California condors go back to less than 20 breeders, whooping cranes back to about 30 birds...inbreeding by itself is not the problems, it is the "genetic quality" (a very ambiguous term because we can not measure genetic quality....the...
Huh? No, ONLY if there are deleterious genes in the lineage. The probability of homozygous pairs of deleterious genes is increased, but that is all. That is because brother-sister
Pairs share 50% of their genes ON AVERAGE, so the statistical probability of bad gene pairs is increased. There is...
Healthy? Depends upon any deleterious genes in the parents. Because they are closely related, the probability of deleterious genes being paired is increased. I doubt you would have any problems for a couple of generations, but you never know when mutations will occur that could be paired. It is...
Will not be any help without a lot of additional information....diet, age, reproductive status....in general, there are 3 types...cecal, fecal, urinary...add all the variations related to diet and I doubt it will help much either than create undue concern.

Any grain can have aflatoxin...common also incorn and soybeans. Mills usually test when they receive the grain. Really impacted by late growing season conditions.
