I have the same thing and i belive it is depluming mites . they burrow under the skin and cause irritation . you will need to spray you coop good to because allot of mites stay in the house.
With the cost of the coops , wire , feeders, feed , birds themselves and all their other must have stuff i figure they need to lay gold eggs for 6 months and then i'll turn a profit. ( if the price of gold holds up )

i don't belive a rooster can tell a hen from a rooster until the hen acts like a girl. My rooster treats all new pullets as young roosters until they prove to him otherwise. Maybe that pullet gave him the " i'm a rival" impression by mistake.

I had a beautiful and frendly pullet that kept prolapseing so, we had to kill her . yeah i hated to do it but, i did not want to see her suffer any more.
I dunked my BO hen the other day and she just got that AHHH look on her face and ran back to the nest.
