This auction is for a 2010 female paired with a 2011 male (unrelated). I love this little hen and she averaged 3 eggs/week this past season. The male is deep bodied and wide but his bib trails a little low on his chest. I also have a gray female paired with a blue fawn male if interested...
I have a male call and his feathers are maturing slower then the other males. He also seems to have "silkie" feathers and gets wet easier (water doesn't repel off of him like the others). Could he be a silkie? His parents and siblings (about 9 currently) have normal duck feathers. Any ideas if...
Not sure what would come out of that combination - it works with the blue fawns and greys because a blue fawn will have 50% blue, 25% grey and 25% pastel so a blue fawn and a grey would take out the pastel color. I'm guess it would work the same with a blue fawn and pastel (50/50 for blue and...
I have a Blue Fawn male that I was going to pen with a grey pullet - will they produce 50% blues and 50% greys? Or a different color combination? Thanks!
The game bird grower is 28% but the breeder/layer formula is lower - I think mine is 22% but I'd have to check the tag be to sure. I feed the breeder formula to all my ducks and cochins and they are doing great, no angel wing and the feathers look beautiful.
She also just might be stressed from the new addition and not getting along. Do you have a cardboard box or extra dog cage that you could put her in for a night with food and sugar water? She should perk up after a few hours/over night if its just stress.
If it is cocci you can't get it (but should always wash your hands anyway) but your other birds can. It is an easy treatment (if it is cocci) and you can treat the whole flock with corrid in their water. You can get corrid at tractor supply or rural king depending on what type of farm store you...
With Blue Fawns you'll get 25% pastel, 25% grey and 50% blue (or it might be 25% blue and 50% grey, I don't remember). I had about an equal number of each color hatch this year though. Fun to hatch and see what color the chick is!
I hatched out a few pastels from my blue fawn calls this year - they are starting to get their adult feathers and are really getting pretty! Very happy with the pastels - I haven't owned east indies and can't compare the two but I love the calls
Check for cuts/bruises - I had a 3 month old hurt his dew claw and he limped until I figured out that's what it was. I cleaned it with benadine and antibiotic cream and within 2 days he was back to normal. Good luck!
First - I LOVE this topic
Second - I am jealous of all the successful breedings My males do not seem to be interested in my females and I have not had fertile eggs yet(bantams). I'll probably try AI next, is this hard to do with cochins? I've wacthed you tube videos and the process seems...
How many days does AI usually work for a bantam? Can you expect to get multiple fetilized eggs from one insemination? Also, where is the best place to get pippets for collection? Thanks!
